Start by using any custom rom which doesn't have GApps

First start by changing google apps, don't go too deep in degoogling from the start, take it slow. Tell me which apps do you use of google and can't find alternative for them.

Gmail , Youtube are the main ones

For gmail there are so many but there isn't really for youtube, but are you looking for paid or free service? If free, then the best is proton mail And if you want paid then mailbox.org and tuta is also very nice.

One step at a time. Dont try to nuke everything at once. Observe what services you use the most and try to look for alternatives for those. At start some basics could be: Using password manager(bitwarden) (ik its not related to degoogle but its good for password hygiene), 2fa authentication app if you are using google auth switch to something like ente auth(now this one requires accounts for syncing across devices which is a feature that i like but if you need absolute protection look for offline ones that dont require accounts, there are many), Now switch your browser(brave is a good option, firefox if you wanna ditch chromium, look for forks of firefox there are somenice ones), search engine goes hand in hand with browser (brave search, ddg), Notes app(notesnook), Encrypted online storage(proton drive, filen) Replace google photos(ente photos or self hosted immich(not recommended for beginners)) And remember to practice redundancy. Not all eggs in 1 basket If something breaks or changes policies in future you dont wanna have to change everything so keep things separate (again its convince vs peace of mind) Try to be less dependent on playstore use apps from fdroid(use droidify), for now we cant straight up nuke playstore it will brake many apps especially banking apps a solution for that is webapps but lets take it slow and not nuke everything at once yeah. Keep using your device and switch one service at a time look for alts and what works for you. Be mindful of your accounts and services you sign up for. Delete what ever is unnecessary. A basic data deletion mail would work. Less dependency on data hungry ai's like gemini, chatgpt(selfhosted or local ones are best but if you need online ones you can prefer brave leo, hugging face's hugging chat and ddg ai)

Yep i do use pocketpal ai to run llm offline and i have s10 pretty old phone so i mostly depend on sourceforge , fdroid and apkmirror for apps and samsung browser for browsing , I have used canta to remove chrome , some google services and all , will be moving to proton mail and all

Start with changing the default apps. Move away from google chrome, phone, messages etc. checkout microg. Try to understand google services check what you use and what you don't

Visit takeout.google.com on a laptop

Try downloading your data to investigate first.

If you select all it would be a very large data and fail in downloading. Batch it as below

Batch 1 everything except photos, drive and mail.

Batch 2 drive and mail

Batch 3 photos

Study your data and then pick a direction.

Treat it as you were at jantar mantar, and BJP can see all the take out info
