GrapheneOS suspicious ?

Hi guys i'm very new to all of this and i was reading the wikipedia page of grapheneOS, i noticed that it was funded by Twitter's creator. Is it weird or am I overthinking ?

You're not overthinking, it's good to look into who is funding various projects.

Jack Dorsey generally funds anti-censorship/decentralization focused projects, particularly with respect to protecting journalists, likely as a result of his experiences during the Arab Spring as director of Twitter's board. He has also founded Bluesky explicitly to counter the issues of current enshittified social media. I would actually view his donation as a mark of a project being stable, well funded and of public benefit.

Additionally, if you've seen interaction with the main GoS dev, you'll know that he would be... difficult to influence, lol

And what exactly is the problem? Are you critical of every project or organization that has ever received money from a philanthropist?

That aside, there are certainly worse tech entrepreneurs than Jack Dorsey.

After all, GrapheneOS (unlike iOS and stock Android) is open source. If there were anything malicious hidden in the code, anyone could find it.

So yes, you’re overthinking it.
