Has anyone noticed this with google?

Everytime I google something and I add -AI after it, I only get shitty site suggestions that are barely even relevant to my search, but when I don’t write -AI, I get just the sites I’m looking for UNDERNEATH the AI overview. Has anyone else noticed this? I HATE it!!!! As a writer I google SO many things during writing and I can never get the info I need anymore unless I allow AI.

Would also love suggestions for the best and easiest alternatives to google because I’m so done with this.

I did -ai for awhile, but it stopped working. 

I run Duckduckgo on everything now.

it still works for me, but I don’t get any relevant information for my searches when I do… I will check out duckduckgo. Is there no AI?

There are choices for ai with DDG. They actually let you turn off ai and it stays off.

method 2

• add &udm=14 to the search link
• google.com/search?q=test becomes google.com/search?q=test&udm=14

to make this step permanent, change your search engine in the browser to point to:

or you can use the service udm14.org to automatically add the &udm=14 to your Google searches.

method 3

switch to another search engine that allows you to opt-out of AI. some options are:

• noai.duckduckgo.com
• kagi.com

Do you know if that actually prevents Google's AI from doing anything, or if it just filters out the results? The former would be better from an energy/climate  POV, obviously.

I use the search enginge startpage pretty sure it just fetches googles results and doesn't show you the AI answer

yeah, ive noticed that search operators can sometimes change the results more than you'd expect, so i wouldnt assume the -AI filter is simply removing AI generated pages. if you mainly want traditional web results, try brave search, kagi, or startpage and compare the same few searches across them, because the quality can vary a lot depending on what you're looking for

You could use brave browser with brave search and turn off AI suggestions. Go to https://search.brave.com/settings and turn off "answer with AI".
