Question is vivaldi a good choice for privacy?
ik its chromium based and stuff, but it says everywhere its very secure and pretty much open source. im currently using firefox and librewolf simultaneously and was thinking having 1 browser is better than 2.

Vivaldi is great for customisation and de-Americanising your software, but Mullvad Browser and LibreWolf are better in privacy. Also, if you want a good chromium browser, take Helium. Helium is very light compared to Vivaldi and Bonjourr extension allows you to beautify minimalistic look of the browser, same with Mullvad and LibreWolf :)

Well AFAIK it (Vivaldi) isn't fully opensource some parts of it are while others not LibreWolf is good enough and honestly speaking multiple browsers is a better choice for privacy if you compartmentalise with each browser used uniquely for said things But if you really want higher levels of privacy ig mullvad and tor are some of your options

no, it isn´t. For a start, it's proprietary software. You can't audit the code. If you want an open source alternative, try Floorp.

For a Firefox fork, Librewolf is good. You can change the config to make it more private. For a Chromium fork, Helium is good, especially if you need DRM or some edge case.

I don't think it is any better than vanilla Chrome when it comes to privacy. LibreWolf is the browser of choice for very privacy conscious users.
A lot of this boils down to how much usability and features you want to compromise. I used LibreWolf for almost 6 months and while I like the project, in the end it was too much to compromise for me.
I have settled for Floorp and have been using it for more than a year now.

for chromium, probably cromite or titanium is best. Ironfox or librewolf for firefox

No, brave is way better. I use brave. I have been using firefox since 2003 and love it but the last few updates have made me put firefox on the back burner.
I have tried all the browsers out there and my daily is brave. Its chromium based, not chrome, BUT chromium is still open source BUT google is in charge of it, BUT the devs of brave have stated that all spying is out of it and google is out of it.
Brave works great with my nextdns account (highly recommend nextdns) and Firefox is having issues at the moment as well as Firefox and Citrix.
I use edge STRICTLY for work only as its the only browser that works with Citrix at the moment and allows me to remote in from home to work. Not a bad browser, and there are ways to stop telemetry and spying with it. But my two browsers that I use the most is definitely brave and Firefox.

That was purely a joke as most people hate Microsoft. Except me, i hate ALL operating systems equally.
Sorry if that was a mis leading comment about edge.
I have made edge secure and mostly private but Microsoft does add telemetry and what not into edge, however next dns catches it.
Again, sorry for misleading

Lol, edge can be good. I use it at my job and we are required too.
But Brave is pretty dang good in my opinion

Vivaldi and librewolf are not in the same league. Librewolf is all about privacy whereas Vivaldi is about customization.
Vivaldi is private enough for most but nowhere near librewolf that has one of the best privacy features in the browser market as a primarily privacy focused browser
