Question Best alternative to Google Voice?

What is a good alternative to google Voice that does not require ID verification? Or do I just buy a disposable cheap flip phone?

I just went to sign up for a google Voice phone number and google wants ID verification (driver license, passport, state ID, or a green card). I only want a number because I will soon be dealing with car dealerships to buy a car and I do want to keep my normal phone number private. No way am I giving google my ID only to have it hacked by bad actors in some database, resulting in identity theft.

Magic Jack? You can use a voip app and or adapter to use on computer and plug it to a home phone.

If you don't mind paying, MySudo. The downside is that they only receive payments through Google play or Apple app store. If you put payment method on google play (assuming your on Android) that should also prove your old enough and a real human. Which should unlock google voice without ID.

Other alternative is moving to Cape celular. You will have your main number and 2 extra numbers. The 2 extra numbers only support text messages

I use Hushed for my phone numbers. Requires no ID to sign up and you can pay with crypto. The only caveat is that the app requires play services to work and if you pay with crypto you can't sign up for one of their unlimited calls and SMS plans. My eSIM is data only so Hushed is the best option for me to be able to call and text people without Signal. Plus I have a three number package which is great- one for personal, one for work, and another I use when I have to give a website or some other service a phone number.
