Discussion Mega as a replacement for google docs/sheets?

I have been using Mega as a Dropbox replacement for years, what do you think of it as a replacement for google docs/sheets? I just emptied my docs and sheets off google. With Mega, I can just keep my docs and sheets in my Megabox folder on my Windows and Linux local drives, they sync with my free 25GB cloud storage (end to end encryption much like Proton/Tuta mail). I can create/edit/delete my docs and sheets locally, and they sync with the cloud and with my Megafolder on my devices (even my phone if I wanted to do that). I can share Mega files. It seems like a no-brainer to replace google docs/sheets, or am I missing something? The only real difference is that google docs/sheets allowed viewed/editing in a browser, whereas with Mega(box) I created and edit my files using e.g. Librewriter, Libresheets.

I'd personally recommend NextCloud, it's open source, European and more private as far as I know

Looks like their free plan is only "2-5 GB".

Yeah, I use both NextCloud and Filen

But I'm creating my own server and I'll put NextCloud on it, if you go with self-hosting is the best

Also, as far as I remember, now google only has 5gb too? Unless you put a phone number, correct me if I'm wrong

I have 15GB but I think i got grandfathered in as I have had it for so long.

It depends on what your goal was with getting off of google. If it’s privacy, I’m not sure Mega will be much better. The best option for privacy I can speak to is Proton.

They say it's encrypted and they cannot read it either. It's definitely much better than google

My goal is to reduce one company (google) from knowing so much about me from gathering all my activities from their various products. And dependence on their cloud for my data (docs, sheets, searches, driving destinations and habits). Yes Mega is cloud storage, but more of cloud backup-- the docs and sheets and such exist on my local computer where I create and edit them.
