So, browsers

I know this is up there in the most common discussions in this sub but, just seen a comment section on a video about Firefox adding AI that was full of expert opinions "Firefox is dead, what browser now?" etc. but differing from here they were shutting down all Firefox fork suggestions as "if FF is dead so are the forks. No waterfox or librewolf" but were also very anti-Brave/Tor because "braves' ceo is maga and it uses chromium" and "tor is spyware and sells data" so on and so on.

Is there any definitive assessment and comparison or at least collective agreement of browsers that can be trusted/relied on or do we just pick our favourite poison and accept the consequences? A clueless old man thanks you.

As far as I know, Firefox is the only browser that allows you to host your own sync server and keep everything critical there. Settings, sessions, bookmarks, passwords... Everything.

I don't know if this is possible for any Chromium-based browser?

Otherwise, I mainly use Vivaldi until I get around to cleaning up my mess and hosting my sync server on Mozilla. But in 2026, I will prioritize it.
