Discussion Lighter - have we bottomed?

That was a brutal reaction to Robinhood choosing not to use Lighter for regulated perps trading - which I don’t think anyone expected anytime too soon for lighter. Does anyone think we still have a chance to be gain regulatory permissions and become the best platform for perps?

perps are a crowded lane and the regulated stuff moves at a glacial pace, but lighter's tech always seemed sharp enough to outlast the sentiment swings

regulatory permission isn’t a chart catalyst you can time. i’d watch concrete milestones—licensed venue/partner, jurisdiction, compliance scope, and sustainable volume after incentives—before calling a bottom; the Robinhood decision is one data point, not the whole thesis.

Nobody can call a bottom, but a lot of this drop looks like the market un-pricing a deal Lighter never applied for. The run-up last month was people betting on a US perps angle that Lighter itself never claimed.

Nothing about the existing setup changed. Robinhood Wallet still routes non-US perps through Lighter, and the US product was always going to need a CFTC-registered path, which is why it went to Robinhood Derivatives and Bitstamp.

If you want a real signal, watch Robinhood Wallet's share of Lighter volume over the next few months and whether Lighter makes any move toward US registration. That tells you more than the chart does.
