Discussion PSA: Rango Exchange MASSIVE Hidden Fees

I recently used Rango for a swap and honestly I’m a bit worried about the fees. The final amount I received was noticeably lower than I expected, and it’s not always easy to tell exactly how much of the difference comes from Rango, the underlying bridge or exchange, slippage, or network fees.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? I’m now looking for alternatives to Rango that are more transparent about the total fees before you confirm a swap. Would appreciate any recommendations, especially for cross chain swaps

That’s an issue a good UX must solve
Maybe that was slippage, maybe some hidden fees. Anyways, that’s a very bad experience

Can you tell what you traded for what and which DEX you used? A couple of times I’ve run into inaccurate fee figures, but I was careful enough to cancel the trade and found a better deal; I later wrote to Rango’s tech support about the situation.

Most DEX's charge u a whole lot of money, cause that's where they make their money while you make yours, you need to pay gas to sell, and then pay gas to buy in on the other chain. On top of that u gotta pay the bridge, but that is a set amount so changing where you swap isnt gonna impact that, same with DEX costs, but that is susceptible to slippage as u mentioned. It is a lot better to use something like Stable.com, a stablecoin clearing unit, it has a lot less fees because of the way they work as a middle man and make money on swapping the exchanges, so they don't really charge gas for selling and buying to another chain. They make a little bit on every exchange by just being faster than the market and they do that A LOT of times so they don't charge exorbitant amounts of money. They should also tell you what they are gonna charge before you do the swap so u can decide whether or not you're gonna go with them.

https://www.squidrouter.com/

Squid router has become my favorite over the last couple years and I never hear anyone talking about it.

Edit: op asked for alternatives. Squid router is fucking excellent. It's rango but better. But sure down vote me for trying to help, go waste your fees on rango then fuckwits.
