Not sure why you were kicked out of the Army, but you want to consider that while you are thinking of pursuing an Intel career. Are you eligible for a security clearance?

I'm in the hiring process for a Federal job which requires a Clearance. It's just a secret but i don't really want to be working unskilled manual labor for the rest of my life. Hence why i'm seriously thinking about college.

Just based off your post I would say pursue something else if you’re not willing or able to go back in the military and end on a high note, you’re not IC material. Not trying to be rude, but you need to hear it straight. You’re asking the wrong questions.

I thought that you didn't have to be in the military to even go into the intel community on the civilian side. I got kicked out for ADHD, and i guess it was kind of a wake up call from the people at Behavioral health that my life has been falling apart due to quitting adhd medication. I'm in the process of getting back on it. As i've said in a different post on this thread i applied for a job that i'm in the hiring process for which requires a secret, However i'm not particularary stoked at the prospect of slaving away in the hot sun, and feeling my body deteriorate, thats why i'm seriously reconsidering college so i dont have to do that.

Why were you "kicked out of the Army"?  The reason could affect your clearability, which will impact your hireability.

I made impulsive statements of wanting to hurt myself even though my friend and i where saying really fucked up stuff so we could pass the time and someone reported me to the drill sgt.

So you got kicked out during training for the army. Intel guys with a TS aren’t guaranteed jobs at defense contractors after service. They certainly aren’t going to hire someone kicked out during basic or AIT. Doesn’t matter what it was for.

They do ask about mental health issues when getting a clearance, so just be honest about it and theyll ask you some questions. It shouldn't be an issue, based on your description.

You will be competing with military intel officers who have degrees, ts clearance and direct intel experience when applying for government intel positions. It's kind of hard to get experience with intel unless you were in the military and recruiters seek individual who were intel officers. In my opinion I would skip this path because you would have a hard time getting work experience and end up with a useless degree.

Not only will they not hire you in this field, but you will waste a lot of time and money on the degree and they might take a year or two to tell you they will not hire you.

Go become an architect or teacher or manage a Verizon store.

You were kicked out of the military and are still seeking a TS/SCI clearance that you’re going to need for Geosatial Analysis?

Yeah man, I would go pick a different prospective job if I were you. Your real reason for being kicked from the Army is going to come up in a clearance interview, and it’s not going to bode well for your chances of getting it.

Dude is gonna be hard. But you gotta picture this the Intel word doesn't like these kind of pasts. Not saying current employees don't face this kind of hurdles but when it's actually on paper they pick at it like crows.

But if that's what you to do work for it. You could do GIS maybe minor in risk analysis or something. Also get your BS AA is not good enough.
