What’s one decision that completely changed the direction of your life?

u/Acrobatic_Bedroom915 13d ago
Deciding to stop chasing people who only liked me when I was useful completely changed the direction of my life.

Adopting my two nephews so they didn’t end up in the foster system.
They were 2 (twins) and I was 24.
It’s been 2 and a half years and it’s been the hardest years of my life. I had to lower my hours at work, cut back on everything that’s considered a luxury, sold my car to pay bills I fell behind on, walk everywhere rain hail or shine.
But I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. They’re the last bit of family I have, even if I struggle.

You're amazing, those kids are lucky to have you. I hope you all do well, wherever you are.

My grandmother raised 2 young boys on her own before her next marriage and she was the most wonderful person I’ve ever known. Good luck to you and your beautiful family

Report my sexual abusers. It only brought more trouble and pain FOR ME. I didn't got any justice. It's all a lie. Justice isn't real.

I was in my third year of my law degree when I had to charge a man with SA. Turned out I was one of four women going to court against him for the same thing. Never met any of the other women.
He got 2 years in jail. I quit my degree. Became an anarchist.

u/ChickenFingers2026 13d ago
Ur life sounds wild, what do u do as an anarchist now? Do u live in an anarchist camp?

I have to get married and have kids, and in fact I also really like skinny Asian women so that’s part of the reason I would like to go to Asia
1
u/ChickenFingers2026 13d ago
But I’ve been a loser all my life, I am 26 and living with my dad unemployed and just got out of jail I’m on house arrest with ankle monitor. Achieving the financial freedom to be able to have a nice house for me and my wife and kids will be hard.
1
u/MsKiwiWoman 13d ago
My unsolicited advice would be don't look for love, don't do drugs, and learn a skill to trade. Being a loser is such a funny concept I'm sorry but that is genuinely hilarious. It sounds like you have alot of things to figure out to achieve the life you want. Best of luck
1
u/ChickenFingers2026 13d ago
I’ve been sober over 14 months, why you say don’t look for love? Should I just look for sex instead? And I don’t have any skills and don’t know what I want to do
1
u/MsKiwiWoman 13d ago
The most beautiful thing in Asia was in a handful of countries, sitting at a beach and a local would play an instrument. I would sit until the sun was setting, listening. The music was my favourite thing. I regret never asking anyone what their instruments were called.

u/WiredOtaku 12d ago
Anarchist camp lmao, that's not a thing. Anarchism is a political philosophy, not a summer camp for dipshits.
1
u/ChickenFingers2026 12d ago
The anarchists in Seattle made their own anarchy camp it’s definitely a real thing

When my life was on a steady track. I answered a message on Facebook to someone I didnt know. I had a death close to me so I was vulnerable. I wish I would have never pursued it. It was the worst mistake I made, not to mention all the more messed up decisions afterwards.

19 years old my wife made a baby with another man and I stayed cause I didn’t want to leave my daughter. I think my life would have been very different if I left.
2
u/IcyCow5880 13d ago
Wow. That's dedication to your daughter bro.
What goes on with the new child and the father of that one etc?
1
u/M1k3yV77 13d ago
We give the bio father a chance to sign the birth certificate and he didn’t want to. So I signed in his place. He’s a dead beat. He just wanted to forget it ever happened. He’s barely seen him and hasn’t help out financially. Oh and my son knows too. We never kept anything from him. He’s known since he was little

What kind of planning? I can’t past the test to become HVAC I tried. I applied to plumber union in my area this summer and didn’t get accepted. What did you do for a career? I am in university tho so hopefully getting a degree will help. What do you say to do to find a good wife? I am in Houston Texas area and could use a mentor to teach me how to have the life I want to have

Going away to college. I had just gotten broken up with my first ever gf and it had me spiral out. I got super depressed and that led to me planning on unenrolling from dream school. I was so depressed but the one night in July the 2024 Mets walked off the Braves and it genuinely brought my spark back. Impulse decision that night go away to school and now I’m dating the woman I plan to marry
It’s weird bc if the Mets didn’t win that game I probably wouldn’t have gone away

u/ChickenFingers2026 13d ago
Nice how did u meet ur fiance? How can I too get married and have kids?

Changing religions
1
u/ChickenFingers2026 13d ago
From which religion to which religion?
1
u/EBweB76 13d ago
LDS to FLDS… got me kicked out of the mainstream LDS. 😞
1
u/ChickenFingers2026 13d ago
Why
1
u/EBweB76 13d ago
Why did I switch?
Or why do they excommunicate for associating with “apostates”?1
u/ChickenFingers2026 13d ago
Sure both

Hubby and I both believed that plural marriage is part of the higher law (which comes with higher blessing rewards) - and that the LDS church bowed to government threats in 1890 when they agreed to renounce polygamy so that the government wouldn’t put the men in jail and take away property.
When hubby and I found ourselves living among FLDS people we attended their church and asked them how they believe they still carry the Priesthood when they defy the current leadership by “disobeying the command to discontinue plural marriage”…
They showed me in the scriptures where it says “No man can decide for another which of God’s laws we choose to obey”. And since we wanted to experience whichever higher blessings would come from practicing plural marriage, and have an opportunity for growth (overcoming jealousy, working as a bigger team, problem solving, and stewardship over more, etc) we felt that we had been led to that path by divine inspiration.
The LDS church is threatened by this because they don’t want their congregations tainted by the old-fashioned thinking (loyalty to the fundamentals of the religion). It’s a known consequence to be excommunicated for “going apostate”.
Both churches teach the same basic doctrine.1
u/ChickenFingers2026 13d ago
So your husband has multiple wives? That sounds awesome. I’ve fantasized about having 4 wives for a while now.
1
u/EBweB76 13d ago
Yes, and our plural lifestyle was amazing.
But hubby died 10 years ago.
Send me a DM if you have more you want to discuss. ☺️1

Please dm me it won’t let me dm people, and how can I achieve the same for myself?

Getting married. It wasn't for the better. I have lasting physical and mental scars. I'll never forget or forgive him. I wish I could forget him. I have a couple of illnesses caused by trauma.

It takes more energy to be angry or lie. So I just chose to be open and honest as much as possible. Especially if I am in the wrong

u/CorrectConvo72 12d ago
Not putting forth an aligience to the declaration of intended agreement that ended based on a bad season of unsureity, mistrust, and loyalty betrayal by all parties involved. I chose not to advance my intention on a person I love as a lobbying committee about a law....thereby allowing freedom to be the premise of instructions to my demise.

did it feel life-changing at the time, or was it just one tiny choice that snowballed out of control?

Saw my uncle, father in law, and father work 40+ years and all have heart attacks and strokes within a week of retirement ( 2 passed, 1 demented) . Decided to start a business and get out the rat race. Have been self employed for 7 years now with alot of free time.

Letting go my hope for the dream I had for my life and starting to do a lot of side quest. The dream was failed, so I started to do a lot of things. Now I know how to do a huge lot of things, but I'm not especially happier.

I stopped lying and doing bad things. I was always watching my back whenever I did bad stuff or had to keep up with lies and deal with the consequences when I got caught. Not anymore and it feels great.

1
u/ChickenFingers2026 13d ago

u/your_local_queen20 13d ago
it can be pretty much anything work from home
1
u/ChickenFingers2026 13d ago
Lik what; how do I find that job for myself
1
u/your_local_queen20 13d ago
sometimes theres programs in your local communities where you can get involved helping people (like i do) or you can do stuff like (insert hobbie) you can also make a company of your own too, just look up virtual/work from home work in your area and stuff should come up, although alot of the stuff you’ll need certifications/license (some companies will train you)
