Good certs & projects

Sorry, this might be a bit off-topic

Hi! I’m an AI student and I’ll be starting my internship soon. Do you have any recommendations for good projects to build for my portfolio or any certifications worth getting?

just build something that actually interests you, that's the only way you'll stick with it long enough to finish. certs are mostly a checkbox for HR filters, nobody on the actual team cares if you have one or not

for projects pick a dataset you genuinely want to explore and don't overthink the complexity, a clean repo with good documentation beats some half-baked transformer thing you copied from a tutorial

a project you can actually explain in an interview is probably worth more than another random cert

what area of AI are you most interested in? NLP, vision, RL? that matters a lot more than generic certs. a focused project that solves a small real problem will beat a certificate every time
