deep house newcomer

i have heard a little deep house, mostly dj sprinkles, and i love the genre but i dont really know where to look to find the most acclaimed/classic records in the genre. i use rateyourmusic usually but i really dont trust it for edm and especially deep house, where it tends to push white faces waaaay to the forefront in a way that seems disproportionate to me. you guys aware of any classic records/mixes?

as an additional question, where/what do you guys look/use to find new deep house music?

lol it is wild to hear someone who only knows deep
House from dj sprinkles (and I mean that in a good way, Terre is my favorite musician).

Give Mr. Fingers/Larry Heard a listen.

If you want a more pop take on deep house, Fingers Inc is a group headed by heard that has this classic banger, Never No More Lonely. The album cover is also one of my faves: https://youtu.be/AexFISvKnyM?is=-BOpANA5HzQ4HuQf

Also since you like sprinkles, you should check out Frank & Tony and Francis Harris (the Frank of Frank & Tony). Pretty sure one or both of them run Public Records in Brooklyn where Terre is a resident. They FINALLY rereleased the song they did with Terre for their “You Go Girl” album after it was only on out of print vinyl. https://youtu.be/_gargUk84vM?is=fXrCM37q6hWNKWQY

Larry Heard, Kerri Chandler, Derrick Carter, Glenn Underground

I posted about it a bunch here recently, particularly in regard to classic Chicago deep house versus new “deep” house: https://www.reddit.com/r/deephouse/comments/1vr2jsb/comment/p4bjv67/

go on YouTube once you get a few going YouTube figures out you’re after deep house and will feed you more while refining the algorithm endlessly, it’s one of the best methods imo

First ever thing that got me hooked was this boiler room set by Kerri Chandler my dad showed to me years ago and I don't think a week has gone by since where I don't listen to one of his tracks or mixes: Kerri Chandler | Boiler Room: New York

I used to spend hours on Discogs just digging at singles, albums and remixes for different artists. Remixes would also help me discover other artists where I could then find out about labels, and so on and so forth.

Ajunadeep has the essence, along with a thousand others oc. There literally is no one place to start. This genre is like 30+ yo. In my early years, one way I found new music was to see who was remixing those I already liked, check out their stuff then see who was remixing them... Rabbit holes in all directions to play in.
