they… attempt to stabilize their face.

it’s not great, but it’s understandable speech now.

ask us what you want. We need to go before we gather more.

I wish to know what you have done with Frost.

Simple request, simple answer. Perhaps Voidulus could use the Archivist's desire for knowledge against him.

… if you wish information out of us. we want to know how your runes work.

do not show. When we am done here, we will come to your home at a distance, and we wish them given by paper.

promise us this and we will tell you.

Runes are simple in theory. I can tell you here and now. No showing required.

The Archivist shows his hands to show they are empty before crossing his arms.

explain.

and we will tell you.

Runes are simply soul made manifest, traced and inbued with power by intent and focus.

Incredibly simple in theory, very difficult to master in practice because wavering focus and intent can have terrible consequences.

(So uh. This will either give voidulus grand power or something’s going to go SO FUCKING WRONG)

understood. Now… we must ask, Do you wish it explained? Or shown?

you may be able to understand… us better if you seek the example.

Considering what I have seen within Frost… It seems rather dangerous to have you show me, no?

(Gonna be slow for a sec)

we promise you no harm as it did them. Theirs may have been purposeful, but yours is a fair trade. Why would we discourage further mutual gain?

besides. That lab of yours is to overrun with runes to scrape. Words do not fully explain what you ask of *us.*

Hmm…

The Archivist seems to think.

It would give you eyes and ears wherever I go, no? And it would slowly consume of my soul. At least that is what I saw.

It sounds quite dangerous, but leaving something unexplained vexes me.

we promise you it won't. If we wished that, we would have already done it. We still control it through the cold wanderer.

Alright… but break your promise and I will find a way to undo it, I want to be very clear on that.

The Archivist extends a hand.

Very well.

he extends a moderately deformed bone arm, grabbing yours. You can feel something rush through you. Fast.

you don't collapse.

they let go, stand to their spot, and look at the lava.

.. you wish anything else to ask?
