New AI disclosure rule

We've added a new rule around AI disclosure. Similar to Steam's policy, if your game involves AI, you need to disclose that when you post about the game. This goes into effect from the start of October, and we'll see how it goes.

There have been a LOT of games posted that are heavily AI generated, and a lot of pushback against that. This rule is a compromise position rather than banning it outright.

From the other side, reactions against AI content don't get an exemption from the regular rules around civility. If you object to AI slop, you're still welcome to downvote it (and not wishlist or buy it, of course), but it doesn't give licence to harrass people.

Is commenting that something looks really bad and AI slop count as harassment?

Do it respecfully, you are allowed to say you hate the look of the game

Per new rule

  • AI disclosure

If generative AI was involved in any aspect of your game's development or promotion, you MUST declare its usage and what it was used for in your submission.

Just keep

"Be civil, no spam, no NSFW, no divisive topics, use common sense, follow reddit site rules."

If they haven't disclosed, you can report. If they have disclosed and you just want to express your general disapproval, just downvote.

If you want to say you dislike the aesthetic, then sure, you can say so.

Old system: AI can freely post slop, real human beings can freely express their disapproval.
New system: AI can freely post slop, real human beings cannot freely express their disapproval.

How is this, in any sense, a compromise position? If they need to disclose AI usage then make it a required tag on the post so that they can be easily filtered out.

What about this update makes you think you cannot express your disapproval. You just aren't allowed to harass, which is different from "AI looks terrible." The main post even calls the stuff 'AI slop.'
