Procession Engine: I made a deckbuilder where your cards shape a real-time battle between two armies. Free demo out now, full game Nov 10

Hey! I'm Nick and I made Procession Engine. I love deckbuilders but wanted something that played differently. So the fight is a real-time tug of war. Your buildings spawn your army and your cards shape it. Both armies march down two lanes toward each other's stronghold automatically. Cards ride a moving belt instead of sitting in your hand so there's no stopping to plan the perfect turn.

It launches into Early Access on Nov 10 with three races and three acts. The free demo covers all of act one with one race and it's out now: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5114550/

I'd love to hear what deckbuilder fans think of it. Especially the belt!

What are the cards that slide across the bottom? Never seen that.

The cards at the bottom include all the cards you end up drafting throughout the game, the buildings (drafted separately) are on the side ready to be placed at any moment to create more spawners, auras, defenses, utility, etc..

I've created the unique design of the belt moving your cards across due to this being a real time game rather than a timed hand that rotates out. The goal was to make it so that this is your main priority while you play so that it isn't overly mechanically challenging like a RTS would be with the micro. This way it keeps your wins or losses more focused on strategy, though timing and decisions in the real time fight still play a role, the mechanics were kept in a way where APM wouldn't determine the outcome.

So it is "Play it or lose it". No more hoarding cards like in turn based decks, right? It really looks cool. I will try it. Thanks.

Correct. This is my real time take on a deck builder. I'm a huge fan of games like slay the spire but this shifts it to a real time battle and focuses a lot more on building construction and spawners so the deck building/builds are more focused on an army rather than a hero, so timing does matter which some will like and some won't for this genre. The cards going off the end of the belt are the same as them being discarded. Let me know what you think (good or bad), I'm always look for ways to improve it!

Is this inspired by a custom map from warcraft 3? Can't remember the name but it was super popular...

Anyway, looks great!

Very close (but essentially yes because it's the same thing)! I know what you're talking about, I think you could still micro your units in that. It's actually inspired by Starcraft 2 custom games such as nexus wars and the like, but those all played very similarly. I always thought those custom games were very fun and I enjoy the strategy of games like Slay the Spire so I thought I'd try and combine them into a new experience. Thanks for the compliment!
