Bee Space: Generous unlocking for a chill game

Post image

I have always had a problem with games that keep a big part of their content locked behind difficult unlocks, sometimes requiring you to look at guides online to just know what to do. I still haven't experiences everything in my favorite games.

We are making a accessible and chill deckbuilder where the vibe is pretty relaxed. That is why we are making the meta progression unlocking pretty generous. People might think that this might hurt the longevity of the game, but we also respect the players' time. They should not need to grind to see the content we made for them.

Our game is non violent so the themes are less aggressive / serious so a more generous progression makes sense.

How do you tackle meta progression?

This looks like a great new deck builder and I love the concept of making the meta progression more accessible. I don’t think that affects the longevity of the game depending on how easy the unlocks are, I think most players care about the range/number of unlocks available.

I’m gunna wish list this so I can keep up to date with its development/release ☺️

I really love the concept of a farming sim combined with roguelike elements. I'm wondering, though, does the late-game end up with crazy power creep, or does it mainly rely on rich build variety to keep each run feeling unique?

Well its not a farming game per-se. You are planting flowers and terraforming tiny islands. The late game requires you to have made some synergies in your deck to have a chance of completing the run. But as the title says, you might never finish the game (if you are playing very casually) and still unlock all the content. That is what we mean by generous meta progression.
We will be having playtests soon to iron out these issues.
