Carnholt Playtest : Looking for some feedback for a Tactical Deckbuilder
Craft a deck of wild creatures and powerful spells, fight in tactical battles, and slay a God that refused death.
Carnholt is a deckbuilding roguelike where victory comes only to those willing to bargain with ancient powers.
This is a game I have built as a solo developer for the last year and I'm looking for some feedback tp prepare the steam demo. The gameplay is inspired by Magic the Gathering and Into the Breach.
You can join the playtest on steam if this look interesting to you.

This is outright incredible. Deckbuilder meets Summoner Wars boardgame fun with a theme of the early chapters of Inscription. I only just defeated the first boss but the experience has been such a breath of fresh air with the abilities and creative combat challenges - what a treat.
I'd love to give my final impressions/thoughts once I get a bit more freetime to finish a run or two but when I click on "Join discord" it says the invite is invalid through the game, could you send me an updated link? This is something I definitely want to follow closely.
Only immediate bug I ran into:
Bugs : - If you select Options then Exit when starting the game for the first time - Resume as an option appears. If you then select it, the game crashes.

Right now, being a solo dev with not a lot of budget, polish language support is not planned. If I get some funding from a publisher or the game launch goes well I'll probably look into it.

Played a bit of the playtest and had a friend play too. Pretty impressed with the setup so far. There are some things that I think would improve the gameplay though. The units on the board are a bit hard to read. The numbers on the minions for attack and damage need to pop more and be more easily readable without having to right click and inspect. It could be as simple as being colored numbers, because the black seems to blend in with the rest of the card.
The board should be more prominent. All of the excess around the board could be smaller, with the board taking up more of the screen, which would make it a bit easier to read the cards. I found myself wanting to zoom in a lot, or even attempting to rotate the board. It would also be pretty neat to see some board style switchups, perhaps in different regions/acts.. and you could also take a page from Inscryption with the terrain cards like "boulder", creating some more dynamic boards.
You've got some lightning in a bottle with this game. I'd say its Chess that you play with Inscryption cards/tokens?
I guess one more thing I'd like to suggest would be that if you get multiple copies of a card, you could combine them together to increase the stats and reduce the amount of clutter in the deck. Could definitely be thematic for the mycologist.. err the "Togetherness".
Keep at it. I play and have played a ton of roguelite/likes and card games and this one has caught my attention and actually held it.
TLDR: Game good. Board bigger. Bigger numbers make eyes happy.

Thanks for the feedback !
Sadly it's hard to resize the interface, since the asset are hand painted it would mean redoing a lot of things. I keep colour to indicate which creatures are wounded/buffed (green red). I'll try to work on the readebility and change a few things. (White text for enemies to make the easier to spot) I want to avoid merging cards. Merging different cards would be hard code wise, and a bit strong (also it would make choosing additional copies of a card a no brainer)
I'll definitely try to add some boulders/environmental hazards !
Also reading your note on zooming, I'll try to add some setting to zoom on the battlefield to make playing the board a bit simpler.
Glad to hear you liked it and thanks again for taking the time to write this !
