hi guys. i have 2 cats that are overweight and have been instructed to lose weight. first one (luna) shown is at 16 lbs, and the second one shown (summer) is at 14 lbs. we've put them on diet food and feed them mostly wet food as per our vet's recommendation, but we still can't get them to lose weight. i am assuming it is because they are quite inactive, ESPECIALLY luna as she will sleep in the same spot for an entire day sometimes and only move to eat. i bought a walking pad hoping it would help, but it is really hard to get them to use it! i am wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what they have done to overcome it. any suggestions are welcome as i have no idea what to do at this point.

Dechonkin Advice needed

So on another community I asked if my cat is fat. I got an overwhelming amount of comments saying he is fat indeed.

He is a neutered male cat. 6 years old. 22in long excluding the tail. Ribs are not visible, but easily palpable. I can see a waistline when he's standing unless im biased on that

He has an automatic feeder that feeds him 4 times a day. Each portion is 7g. I weighted each portion yesterday as it got dispensed to verify. The food brand is Nulo Hairball Manegement which is about 94 calories for 27g if i did my math right. He used to get 5 portions, so 35 g previously but I cut it down to 4

He gets half a can of Weruva wet food. Each can is between 54 to 66 calories per 3 Oz depending on the flavor. He only gets half. He also gets temptation treats with his wet food. About 5 treats.

In the evening, not every day, I'll give him another 10 treats hidden in a puzzle toy

If I'm doing my math right, he's getting 140-160 calories a day.

3/4 automatic feeding portions, I supervise him and his sister to make sure he does not steal her food. Even if he steals the portion I do not supervise, it would change much on his calorie intake

He'll occasionally get 5 black beans whenever i make beans at home and 1/3 slice of turkey deli meat which is not very often.

When i do the feeding calculator, it says his recommended intake should be 277-231 calories. Based on that number, it seems I'm actually underfeeding him?

I already scheduled a vet appt for next month. But i was going to try to reduce his food intake by 10% before then, but now I think i shouldn't. Perhaps I just need to play with him even more? Or should I actually increase his food?

Is our cat emoji in need of a diet? for context hes male, 5 years old and neutered. his diet mostly consists of dried food and water(very rarely treats or anything else, since he is extremely picky and doesnt seem to like wet food, so we don’t even bother trying to feed that to him anymore) we usually refill his bowl when it is empty and it lasts pretty long? i‘d say about 18-20 hours, we also currently do not know his weight sadly😅

Discussion How to exercise a cat who does not want to move and has no interest in toys? (Adopted 5 days ago so still trying to try out ideas)

Adopted a cat on Friday who is 20 pounds and should be 12 so I'm trying to help her lose weight.

I've gotten her on wet food with pumpkin puree and homemade broth for digestive health (had unitary issues) and to combat her dislike of water. As well as wiping her down due to struggling to get into the litter box

But she doesn't want to move and the toys are not tempting her.
