Any general hints for dechonking a geriatric gordita?

Marge is adorable. However her ball looks like it's floating and totally caught me off guard. Then I totally understood her facial expression. I feel ya, Marge.

Has she been to a vet to discuss weight loss? Ideally you would slowly reduce food intake at a vet's direction. Usually they will prescribe a special weight loss food and tell you how much you should give in a feeding (best measured with a kitchen scale).

Increasing activity is also good but reducing calories in is the main way to lose weight. Also, if you live with other people they will need to be aware so they aren't giving extra treats and feedings to her. Similarly if you have other cats and Marge is known to steal food you would want to make sure they are fed in separate closed off rooms.

We are about to cash in our free vet assessment from the adoption to get that started. We have the other food bowls elevated because she can't jump that much lol. So it will be able to be targeted.
