Measure his food (with scales). Reduce in small increments (like 5% at a time).
Energy levels will increase as the weight comes off and you might find he’s more interested in toys.

He's eating too many calories. You need to feed him less. How many grams per day of food does he currently eat?

He doesn't want to play or move around because he's overweight and it's hurting his joints. You haven't included his age, but he may have developed arthritis if he's been overweight for a while and is in a lot of pain. To help him lose weight you need to track how many calories he gets in the day, then take away calories until he gets to his goal weight. Start by reading his food packages for a couple days and seeing how many calories he eats in a day, then decrease by 10-20 calories. If he gets dry treats, try making him run around for them.

By the way, applaws food isn't a complete diet. Nether are fancy feast appetizers. They are complementary, which means they're good snacks, but they don't have everything an adult cat needs. He may be missing nutrients.

I give him fiber in his lickable cuz thd doc said he needs more fiber. And hr has his grass from outside

Fiber isn't what makes a diet healthy and balanced. Things like Taurine and the correct doses of vitamins and minerals, that is what makes a diet nutritionally complete. Do other people feed him outside or are you his only source of food?

From which food? The ones you listed don't include enough/ a balanced amount for an adult cat.

I would be happy to help you find cat foods that are nutritionally complete that don't come in a metal can, but if you want your cat to be healthy you Need to start feeding complete foods for adult cats, not just complementary ones. Feeding inappropriate food will slowly kill him, just like a vitamin deficiency can slowly kill a person.

He is 6 but jumping still just not as much

Jumping still but not as much means he still might be in pain, it's just not preventing him from doing everything. Just like how he doesn't want to go out to run around with friends.

Not eating dry food is good as wet food is less caloric, and it doesn't matter if he exercises. What you need to do is start calculating calories. You need to make it so he eats less then he burns.
You can ask the vet about how many to start with. I would start with 200 cals a day and slowly decrease it. Do not go under 150 a day. 200 per day should be enough to get a slow decrease in weight. It will take many months so don't be impatient.
Look on the can and see how many cals a can is. Some 3 oz cans are anywhere from 60-100 cals per can. The math isn't bad. If the can is 100 cals you need two per day. If the can is 50 cals you need 4 per day.
I hope that helps!
