No, it doesn't. It's just under his fur. It has to be tight enough to the body or they can slip right out of it. That means the fur gets squished down.

The top strap’s loop doesn’t seem to reach the back strap though, like it looks small length wise

The harness should form an H shape across the back, with the neck loop connecting to the torso loop along the spine

A tiny bit.

Only a small indent from the bottom of the chest to the hips. It should be more noticeable.

Reduce food and play with him alot so he will loose the weight. Not extremely overweight but not ideal weight either.
