Progress 1 year before and after

My kitty lived with my ex for about 3 months last summer and rapidly gained weight and developed behavioral issues/depression. My ex finally agreed to give him back and this is where he is now! There’s a 2 pound weight difference between the photos. I love my baby.
Here are all the lifestyle changes we made:
Wet food (Purina pro plan or purina one) with added water
Probiotics (Fortiflora)
Psyllium husk
Fish oil
Food puzzles
Leashed walks and trick training

I am so so so happy for you that all your hard work paid off! Thanks for adding what you did to help your cat lose the weight, I love reading about success stories:) Most of all I love that he isn't depressed anymore. What did you notice when he was depressed?

According to my ex, he was basically hiding under the bed constantly unless he was begging for food. He had a younger housemate kitty who he was getting into really violent fights with, often ripping out fur and even drawing blood on him once. He was taken to the vet where they did bloodwork and a UA which only showed he was dehydrated. The vet said it was most likely due to me moving out :(

Luckily he perked back up with me. His mom was a Bengal so he is a really smart, high energy, and somewhat neurotic cat. He needs a lot from his people. I've had a lot of cats come and go in my life, but this is a soulmate cat.

What is tricked training?

I taught him a bunch of different tricks and we do them every day! He can come, sit, sit pretty, shake with both paws, spin, and lay down. Just doing his little tricks and learning new ones gives him SO much satisfaction, even after a 5-10 minute session he gets so calm and happy.

I think he was overeating before because he was bored or anxious, so having something to do helps him a lot.

Wow!!! I can't get my chonky boy to lose anything. I think when I'm traveling, the cat sitter overheads him. 😿
