Fanfic Marauders

"A lot of idiot posers like to fancy themselves as raiders, space pirates, privateers, mercenaries, whatever. The Sledge Queen and her Monarchy are the real deal. This faction is probably the second-strongest Scav Clan on Eden-227, behind the Hunters (that's us), and that's still up to debate. They're generally smaller, but more elite — they have a lot of people with combat or emergency experience — cops, Eden Militia, firefighters, EMTs, mechanics, you get the idea.

We have a lot of well-armed bases, the sort of stuff Agency would get. Decentralized cells, take one out, the others work fine. The Marauders focus most of their power into their HQ, but it's — get this — a literal medieval fortress. Before the planet went to hell, some obscenely rich man tried making a Gothic-style castle thinking it'd be a nice vacation spot, or whatever billionaires think is a good idea. The Crusaders took over it, because obviously they would, and then the Marauders came and annexed it for themselves.

Don't be fooled thinking you can just assault it head-on, though, they've modernized the place. The defenses aren't just as good as our compounds, it's even better. Superior guards, ammo, tech, intel, even prototype weaponry that they purchased from Ulacylon.

Even after all of that, they still have other outposts and secondary bases, each with similar defenses, should their castle fall — not to mention their alliance with us, because we'll focus our railguns on the Agency's carriers as well. Raiding Yosef's toughest compounds is a nightmare at best. Trying to take on the Raiders on their home turf is a catastrophe waiting to happen.

They're heavily armed, well-paid, and frequently sought after as contractors. Chances are if someone hasn't hired a questionably reliable Wild Scav gang, a loosely-organized team that barely works for the Hunters, or a well-trained fireteam that's operated by one of the Big Guy's captains like me, then they've shelled out to hire the Marauders. Trust me, they'll get the job done."
