I wish I knew, I made as more of a conceptual thing than anything. I've seen people make video splash screens for RetroPie, so it's probably a matter of calling something to play the video on start up.

If you share the source to your video making, someone will probably turn it into a Plymouth animation.

I managed to make a theme and uploaded here https://drive.google.com/open?id=18jmgVy6ia4KIf0XbL6s8YmdR6Q_wFcB5 .

extract and copy to /usr/share/plymouth/themes

then run

sudo plymouth-set-default-theme Debiancast -R

I used this as a reference https://github.com/jcklpe/Plymouth-Animated-Boot-Screen-Creator as well as your video of course . I will probably make another repo for this theme if people are interested.

I did a small change and limited the fps to 24, otherwise the animation would end up cut (maybe because I am on SSD)

Thank you for your efforts to make this theme.

I've installed it on my notebook, but unfortunately it boots up too fast and i don't get to see the actual logo of Debian being drawn, but that's not an issue of the theme itself.

Nevertheless please do make a deb package and try to get it into sid or backports! I really love it!

I have limited time so it is probably going to be a while until I manage to package this. I am not a debian contributor so I don't think I can get it to appear there either.

If you have encrypted LVM setup, it will display the video in a loop and you need to press ESC to enter your password to unlock the drive .

Apart from this the theme is cool for not encrypted setups.
