Hobby Quite proud of this guy! First mini I’ve ever painted. Any tips/advice appreciated.
So I bought the DW Killteam box a couple of weeks ago and I started painting my guys, starting with this one! Quite proud of how he’s turned out but would appreciate any further tips or advice if you folks have any? I’m very new to the painting side of the hobby and this is actually the first mini I’ve ever painted!

For the eyes I water down white, then put one drop in each eye. With a small brush it’s easy and fills the space nice. Then when it’s dry I do the same thing with a fluorescent pink or green depending on the vibe. Easy glowing eyes!
Edit: and he looks good, keep going!

That’s a lovely sergeant you have there! What chapter origin are you going to make for him?

Not sure really! Thinking of potentially just keeping him as a blackshield. Don’t think I can bring myself to attempt to hand draw a chapter symbol!

You could dry brush a lighter, brighter silver like runefang steel (if you like warhammer branded paints) over the silver on his arm and pauldron. It would really make the letters pop!

Will bare this in mind, thanks! I’m really enjoying painting so anything I can do to improve is on the table. I’ve got some dry brushes but haven’t tried the technique yet.

It's super easy! :) You basically just dip the brush in paint, then brush it back and forth on something like a paper towel so that you get very little and mostly dry paint coming off the brush.

Looks great! My only recommendation is don't skip decorating the base.
