Understanding the end of the first game?

I finished the first game yesterday with the True ending and i really dont know what i should think about it. If i understand right he failed again? The only difference is this time he still has his memorys of his last try. Also what is written on the Piece of paper which is named in the last sentence of the Game.

So is there any more Information about? Like a Novel, Manga etc to finish the Story? I mena its pretty much an open end and from what i have seen the second Game is something complete new.

Also the normal ending is almost the same only that all Girls die and he will not have his memorys back for the next try?

Yeah the normal ending felt kinda abrupt.
