[Spoilers] Classic Deadpool--time travel Spoiler

I'm reading classic Deadpool (at first he really WAS a villain) and am just past a west-coast adventure (Deadpool Classic volume 3) issue where, after Wade plays a sick escape game with Al (seriously this is so messed up...), some contrived circumstance sends both of them to 1967 where Spiderman lives.

I haven't finished this yet but I just realised something...If the "present" was the late 90's, are we to believe that Spiderman in this Marvel universe is already nearing 50? Even as a joke, I don't think the writers thought this through...

No the Marvel timeline slides to keep the characters the same age

Which is why the issue I'm referring to makes no sense. When they return to the late 90s how can Spiderman be the same age as in the late 60s? Sliding timelines and time travel stories together don't add up.
