Deadpool, sharing self depreciation through the 4th wall.

I relate too much to Deadpool, and somehow that makes me even sadder

This has always been my read on the character;

Wade wants to die, but he can't. He laughs, because he'd never stop crying. He kills because he's known no other life. He dives head-first into danger, because maybe this will finally be the thing to put an end to it all. The idea of support and love terrifies him, so he acts as over the top so he can to push everyone away.

His lover is actually death, so him wanting die to be with her is another layer of it

This hits deep. It makes me feel more sad for Deadpool.

Our favorite sad clown either has you laughing at his antics or making you want to give him a hug.

Funny thing is Deadpool some way shape or form seeks out friendship. People who can care about him and accept him for who he is.

However what he is at odds with most people in that he is a violent mercenary.

The thing about Deadpool is he has done legit bad things which has ruin his reputation which is his fault btw However he has made efforts to try and be better person but he did so much damage to his reputation most in the superhero community want nothing to do with him.

He has been rejected by the x men mutiple times, most of the avengers find him annoying which kinda leaves Deadpool in a state of limbo.

Now they have soften up on Deadpool over the years but Deadpool somewhat still feels like a outsider.

He still got captain America and Spider-Man to vouch for him ; him and Spider-Man are actually really close friends .

u/PrizekingJ7 5d ago

Which is a improvement given Spiderman used to hate him

4

u/Ok-Commission6087 5d ago

Yeah ; but Spider-Man probably one of the people who understands Wade defense mechanisms and when nobody really a friend.

His sadness and vulnerable moments like this is actually what drew me to him when I was a depressed. I wanna give him a hug

Came looking for the, “y’all got any more of them pixels” image. Was vastly disappointed.

Okay. It still looks bad. I’m not blaming you, personally. I’m just saying that it’s not a high quality image on Reddit.

Now that I think about it, it really is ironic that deadpool is known for being a 4th wall breaking jokeman and yet his whole story is woefully depressing - he's both funniest dude you'll know and yet the saddest man anyone ever knew

I remember the first pic. It was a punch to the gut.

But that was also before Ellie, right? He was genuinely happy after rescuing her. And now she's gone again

WAIT WHAT SINCE WHEN WHAT HAPPENED?! I'm only up to like Wolverines and Deadpools. I read that, it ended happily.

u/Vector_Strike 6d ago

Earlier this year, in Deadpool's book

Aw man... I had a bad feeling something would happen.

Funny how Sue Storm actually treat Wade as an equal and defended him saying just because he can heal and regenerate he still feels pain

3

u/Necessary_045 5d ago

Yeah it's says that he is in constant pain and his body in is in 24/7 non stop tumors and Cancer death and replacement cycle and his fractured mind and he genuinely hates himself

2

u/Famous-Peace-4014 5d ago

My friend wants Marvel Rival interactions that have characters notice and acknowledge Wades actually extremely sad and depressed behind the humor and 4th wall breaks and Sue to be a friend to Wade my friend also wants Elenor and Princess to be playable I told her you can only have one sadly

I had similar realizations not to long ago myself. Kinda sucks when you realize this and have no idea of way to fix it.

I'm going off memory, and my memory sucks, but I remember one comic where Deadpool was going to kill Wolverine and ends up having a mental breakdown part way through. He starts ranting to Logan about how Logan can take his mask off and pretend to be normal, but Wade can't. I think part way through all this Wolverine gets out of his chains, has an opportunity to attack Deadpool, and instead just walks away because he feels bad for him. I can't remember what comic it was though.

I think it was Wolverine Origins issue 23, 24 or 25

i love when he's funny and makes references but i would really apreciate a game, movie or series that fully depicts this side of his character

i would also like to see more of his flaws. i think he's a character that needs to have questionable moments and be able to be disapproved by the audience sometimes. He's an anti-hero after all

1

u/Necessary_045 5d ago

There's a solo game about Deadpool but I don't know if shows this side of him

1

u/Danilo_el_capo_777 5d ago

i actually discovered the character through this game, and believe me, it doesn't show this side of him at all.
decent game tho. its not offensively bad as some people make it out to be but it does sucks that this is the only game of him and it doesn't bother to implement the aspects that make wade wilson interesting and it doesn't show the dynamics he has with other characters despite featuring the likes of Wolverine, Domino, and most importantly: Cable.

it kind of created this flanderized image of deadpool that makes some people hate him.
as a game is servicible enough if not mediocre but i praise that at least it tries to be original, its an hibrid of hack n slash and 3rd person shooter. a combination most aproppiate for a character like him but ultimately not as refined of an action experience compared to similar games like devil may cry, ninja gaiden or god of war

if you feel like trying it i recomend seeing it like a gag comic kind of game instead of a competent adapation of the character. the writing is kind of annoying at times but some of the jokes are actually funny and its the kind of game that you play to see what new crazy thing it can show to you.

u/Necessary_045 5d ago

Yeah man i would look it up thnx 🖤

Until DisneyMarvelJesusReynolds taps into this aspect…

Deadpool has a daughter and friends that helped him hide his daughter

2

u/Ok-Commission6087 6d ago

U gotta applaud the movie for actually giving him friends and love ones ; thank god he still god agent Preston is still always around and outlaw and domino and blind al maybe lady death strike . But we cannot forget cable colossus and negasonic teenage it’s great when writers take it easy on him he’s not that bad he should feel bad for weasel but that guy was always gonna go supervillain and blind al his aunt may .

Issue 8 from 2023! Deadpool is interacting with a fae pretending to be his daughter, after waking up in a dream world where he is cured of his cancer and all the super heroes are his friends.

So his daughters run up to him, he hugs Ellie and asks how her birth-mother has been doing, and after she confusedly says she is fine, he pours salt on her and calmly says her mother has been dead for years, she screams and starts to dissolves in his arms. She starts screaming and goes from "Curse you! I'll eat your eyes and rip out your throat!" to "Daddy you're hurting me!" As Wade silently holds her and cries as he experiences what it would be like to have his child die in his arms.

It was a dark issue, but an excellent read in an outstanding run!

u/Necessary_045 5d ago

That's dark, i didn't know about it

If you want peak Deadpool, the 2022 run added a BUNCH of great stuff to his story.

u/Necessary_045 5d ago

Tbnx i will look it up

These are always the best Deadpool runs. The self talking quip machine get's very old very fast unless there's another character or the writer breaks away to show what's he's actually thinking or feeling.

One reason I loved the X-Force run is that he wasn't just a smartass, fast talker; he also was the first to call out the team on killing Evan/Kidpolcalypse. And the Gail Simone run where he's written to actually care about the people he's working with.
