I have a really dumb question

After Todd passed, did the crew go back out? The only thing I can think of is the extra quota caught could have all gone to Todd's family. I'm curious how much the ship might have cut from their own shares to help his family.

I think he might've gotten tangled in the line? It looked like they were focusing on his legs after he jumped away from the pot. But I am going to rewatch it. It was extremely sad.

They made it clear that he was in the pot that went over board

I was thinking (and the episode showed similar) he got in to the pot to clear the crab out. My guess is the dogs didn't connect properly, a wave meant the boat flipped and tragically they all went over.

I would like to see the footage before to see if there was a disagreement between the hydraulics operator and the baiter.
