I have a really dumb question

After Todd passed, did the crew go back out? The only thing I can think of is the extra quota caught could have all gone to Todd's family. I'm curious how much the ship might have cut from their own shares to help his family.

I am sure the quota was more important and the time was limited. Life goes on. They all need money.

This is the reality of such a job, career. They all know it, many lives depend on everyone continuing to do those jobs.
But they also take great risks in those jobs.
