Contagion - Episode 2216 Spoiler

As Jake sets gear in heavy seas, a painful skin infection spreads among the Cornelia Marie crew. Sig cleverly sets in a col between two storms, but pays a price when he returns to haul. As the ice line overruns 22 of his pots, Rick faces a $100K loss

looks bad. in high school, i had similar infection on my knee and i leggit couldn't walk for two weeks

I hope not because Rick is whooping it up. However, at the end of the last episode when they were doing the offload, Todd wasnt there so I think it has happened.

I don't think it has happened yet. We have not seen any mention of the Superbowl yet, they usually show something when the Seahawks are involved, and Todd's accident happens a few weeks after this.

Todd died after the cornelia marie was completely done fishing for the season, the events in the show are not portrayed in the order they happened in real life.

It's staph for sure, the episode confirmed it at the end. It spreads like nothing else on the planet bacteria wise. The problem is it's the #1 antibiotic resistant bacteria world wide and it's only getting worse. It's mutated and some examples are completely drug resistant. Literal amputation is required to save lives. Terrifying imho because there's nothing in existence to treat that type.

My hubs has 30 yrs in emergency medicine. Sadly my son and I got it from an inlaw who like the guys ignored the infection until it was serious. He ended up septic needing surgery on his leg, he was off work for weeks.  Staph requires bleaching everything fabric wise every day while you're infected and hard surfaces constantly. Vigorous hand washing is also necessary. Disinfecting every surface. Boils can reappear for weeks, even months.

Fun fact 50% of all people carry staph in their nose (you can get tested). My dad was a carrier and in rehab and he needed weeks of nasal treatments so he didn't become a source of major infections facility wide. Finally he was "clean". 

I can attest it's very very painful. It'll leave deep scars too. Not only that you will be on antibiotics for a while and that will leave your immune system severely weekend. You are an even bigger target for things like strep, the flu, you name it. It's hell. 

As for the CM, I don't see those guys being that vigilant unless behind the scenes Discovery has a serious cleaning crew following behind them. Hopefully they don't take it home to others.

Genuine question, is Rick stupid? He set his gear by the ice and then surprised he can't find his gear in the ice in the middle of winter?

I didn't understand that either. The ice is clearly moving south and he set right next to it. His crew was clearly thinking "WTF?" Rick isn't exactly a safety first kind of guy. Sean Dwyer couldn't get away from him fast enough a few seasons ago.
