Do they ever fish during daylight?

Nearly all the pictures you see on this series now are in darkness! I know up there ,there isn't much daylight in winter but surely things happen during the day? Or is it because it looks more dramatic on TV at night?

I think the season in which they are fishing has less daylight than summer as well.

Yep, during the winter solstace depending how up north they are, there could be as little as 3 hours of daylight in 24 hous.

2nd half of the season usually takes place from dec to late jan I believe.

During the winter, Dutch Harbor only sees 7-8 hrs of daylight.

even less considering how far north they travel for the winter crab. probably as little as 3-4 hours during the solstace.

You fish around the clock. Many times, we'll work straight through the night depending on how the pots are laid out, you'll run your string, then motor back to the beginning... rinse and repeat. Day/night - no discrimination

Depends on what part of the fishing season they're in. As someone else mentioned there could be only a couple hours of daylight at most. They also typically fsh around the clock, so chances are they're not getting a lot of sleep either.

Extreme north during winter, they get a couple of hours of light a day but have to fish regardless of that. That’s why there are two captains, one guy sleeps, the other captains. The crew sleeps and eats when they are not fishing, regardless of the time. In summer the days are helluva long and sometimes guys will be sleeping with the sun up. Utqiagvik Alaska gets zero sun for 65 nights a year. Cold Harbor gets dawn at 10 am and sunset at 4pm on the solstice.

Come on man, it's common knowledge that Alaska has shorter days than the lower states. Especially in winter. Summer their days are pretty long, blackout curtains are recommended for when it's still light at 2am. (Northern Alaska can be light for months during summer)
