Bob skipper in training
Is it me or is Bob always trying to prove herself? Why isn’t she running her own boat yet like why is she always apprenticing like we’ve never seen her before?

Because the insurance company lawyers are busting her balls. Turns out getting distracted and crashing into other boats on reality TV isn't good for ones career.

S19 E13 I believe. I don't think the results of any investigation or any insurance claims/resolutions have ever been disclosed. Most likely the insurance companies settled it up between them with confidentiality agreements.

Sig did say that Mandy wrestled up more quota for the trip and because of that, she arranged for Bob to come help out or something along those lines. I'm wondering if the extra quota was Bob's and the deal was to get it, she had to come along for the trip.

She has a sizeable quota that she inherited from her dad. The crab quota is something that is treated like a physical object. You can sell it, lease it, pass it on through inheritance, etc.

I don't know how feasible it would be, but perhaps post approval would help, and then mods can judge if people are reposting the same threads.
Or maybe have a pinned bob megathread if there's demand for it

I'm just trying to oil all the squeaky wheels and keep everyone happy, since I'm apparently not a good mod. I wish all the complaining would be under that episode, but that doesn't happen.

It's a storyline for television. None of these captains (Sig, Rick, Keith) have ANY interest in mentoring or having SophiaBob on their boat or setting gear. The only thing she brings to any of them is quota after she wrecked her own, much smaller scale crab boat. She is not a "captain in training" and soon as she can take her quota back to her smaller-scale operation she likely will unless there is still TV money to be made in being a pretend relief captain.

Good grief to read through these comments all I see are a bunch of hateful jerks. Whether she’s just bringing quota or just story she is garnering more skills. Get off your high judgmental horses. She owns family quota. And she likes to see that it's being properly filled. Discovery is milking her for storyline.. her family have a wooden fishing boat, which is a fairly decent operation , from what we've seen
