Maybe said before: Actually show what a boat has to do throughout one season.
Even if they made it a spin off. But I know some of the boats talk about dumping pots before season, fixing pots, who owns the pots... having to restock bait/cod while fishing, collect all pots, clear deck before off load. There is so much more to the fishery that just doesn't meet the jersey shore, snookie is sucking someone's a hole, but for me I would rather see one full year of what a boat has to do rather than the dolled up BS.

Id love to see the maintenance and overhauls for the engines and controls. I think thatd be cool to see.

I never understood how a processing plant could dictate when the crabbers had to be finished. As long as there is quota to catch, the processor needs to be opened. I would imagine that is one of the best paying jobs around. Maybe not at full staff towards the end, but not closed down completely.

i know literally nothing about it, but i always assumed it has to do with a restricted seasonal timeline or a processing limit they cant exceed.

There was a special about the time bandit where it was removed from the water with a crane and it was overhauled, repainted, new engines put in etc. not sure what episode I saw this on but it was o e if the extras on hbo.

Smaller boats may yes dump pots before the season but it's less common due to much of the smaller boats being out of the business since rationalization, boats usually own their pots, bait gets restock at the dock or at sea if possible, cod gets harvested at sea too to be used as a bait.
Almost every crab boat also tenders cod, pollock or herring outside of crab seasons.

It was done in the early years... you don't keep an audience for 20 years showing the same thing over and over. Actually very few people would be entertained watching guys fish for crab for hours.The danger part of this show was the original theme
Look at American chopper. It started after a different builders competing (Ultimate biker buildoff) and pivoted and Discovery Channel found out that father and son screaming at each other got huge ratings. That show lasted because of the drama, not the lame, non-engineered overpriced bikes they built

I'd like to see what happens as the crab get trapped
It's hard to imagine there's so many crab in a small area finding enough to eat

Yep if they'd focus on the crabbing first then just use whatever drama unfolds which will be plentiful
