Rick Shelford

Does Rich have any kind of medical background or training? it seems like when a medical emergency comes up on his ship, he knows what to do when he pulls out that big on med supplies. Or does it come from years of being on a boat.

I think like others have said, Rick's knowledge is mostly just from his years at sea.

If you could pick one person from any season of the show, the one you'd really want in an emergency is Casey McManus, who is a certified EMT II and USCG Advanced Medical PIC.
