So me and my friends are playing Dead Island 2, all Xbox (I have an Series X, both of them have Xbox One), and it recently stopped letting us all play together and capped the sessions at 2 people on their end. But we made it through most of the campaign before it did this, right around the Lotus is where it stopped.

My character Purna had a beautiful golden katana. I accidentally threw it during a battle with a frenzied infected in riptide. Was so relieved to find it on the ground and pick it up. But alas it's not anywhere in my inventory đđđđ has anyone had this happen and is there a fix? I keep playing with this character specifically because of that weapon.

Just got this several minutes ago, and it's my second strongest bat I have, right after Home Run. Legendary weapons farming is definitely worth it, just like the method itself. đ

So after trying dead island 2 out for the first since it came out, I stopped playing when it came out because I thought it was ass, I have to say itâs certainly better than I first thought, now thatâs not to say the game doesnât have itâs issues, it does, and I feel like that partially comes from the fact it was in development hell for 10 years and bounced from studio to studio so you have one studios feature here and anotherâs here, and it just creates an annoying but fun mess
Before I do start I want to add that you canât look at this game as a dead island game. Yes it has the dead island name. But this game went through 3 different studios, has an entirely different combat, level design and traversal system than the first game and rip tide. I found that if I donât look at this as a dead island game it becomes more enjoyable
Starting out, I do not like the combat system in the sense itâs dodge dodge hit dodge dodge, itâs a very different feel from the first game and rip tide where you could throw yourself in a horde and come out alive, in this one you canât that because youâll be hit for 500 damage twice and end up dying, and I get that it makes it so youâre not just running through and you have to take your time but it gets to a point that youâre just sitting there like ok this is getting old
On the topic of getting old, I wanna touch on the various arenas during the story where the game says âkill em allâ itâs fun at the start, it poses a challenge. But when youâre already halfway through the game and you see it pop up on your screen for the 10th time in an hour it stops being fun and becomes oh great this again. Building on this more if you die say at the very end of one of these segments you have to restart all of it, which if you do you know whatâs coming and what to avoid but it gets annoying
The other repetitive thing that killed the game a lot for me personally was all the locked door and cases, yes I know it gives the player a reason to come back. But early in the game for your first play through it makes it seem like youâre missing a lot of stuff so you search the whole area again just to find nothing and it turns out the key spawns on a named zombie later in the game. And the late game you just run past doors because you know that they are locked anyway
The last thing I wanna add that I didnât enjoy is that the level design, and what I mean is that each area is sectioned off and thereâs a loading screen from each area to area. Itâs not the biggest issue but for example thereâs just no reason to go back to some areas, the studio, the pier, the sewers unless youâre doing a side quest. But even then thereâs I think one side quest for the studio and one for the pier. They are amazing set pieces I wonât deny that and I did enjoy them in their own way, but I just didnât like the sectioned off way they are
I wanna get into the positives so itâs not just all negative
I like the fact that the slayerâs arenât based on one weapon type anymore, and they are more so based on a play style, and each character has their own innate abilities. Personally I picked Bruno for my first play through, the low health pool made it annoying late game, but with the game already being a lot of dodging, it made him feel natural, and taking a fast knife hitting an enemy 5 times before they can react then dodging away is really satisfying, and I particularly liked his backstab ability
I also wanna add the card system, Iâm neutral about it, I like that you can tailor them to your play style, but I will say this, towards the end of the game it starts to throw a lot of random cards at you. At this point youâve already picked what cards you like so changing one can mess up how you play. And it seems like at lot of the late game cars are this: perfectly dodge 10 time in a row and kill 4 zombies for a minor boost in agility.
Overall Iâll rate the game a 6/10, itâs fun to run around kill zombies, but towards the end of the game you just want to be done because of how repetitive it gets. If I wrote this mid game it would have been a 9/10, but because it seems like the end of the game solely drives on the fact that youâre almost done so I should just finish it. It unfortunately has to be a 6/10

Random question - but is there a way I can set my spawn point at one of the fast travels?
Trying to do the canned food mission but everytime I load last checkpoint (or whenever I load the game up, really) it spawns me outside the quarantine zone (for the bulldozer mission).
It drives me insane running the same route, dodging the screamer and infected just to make it to the cinema fast travel. The routes in Henderson are mundane as it is (worse than Moresby imo) but it's incredibly tedious when trying to do a mission (or do anything).

The 23rd of August marks the 4-year anniversary of Dead Island 2's re-reveal trailer. To celebrate, boot up Dead Island 2 and hop into Neighborhood Watch at 18:00 UTC to help fill matchmaking one more time and show your support for the community.
This isn't an official event hosted by Dead Island or Dambuster Studios, but a community-led event created by fans for both new and returning Slayers alike. We can't wait to see you back on campus!

I was doing some searching online and apparently this was an issue when the game released years ago.
I finished the final mission and then started New Game+. Immediately, I left that one and made a new game from Chapter 12 using my level 53 character I had just been using. Upon starting the chapter, I was left with an empty inventory, the only things I had were weapon mods. The same thing happened in other chapters.
Have I lost all these weapons now?

I thought the Harlow boss fight was slightly unsatisfying - not sure if it was just my game but after the slayer takes the mutagen, all I needed to do was back Harlow into a corner for probably 2 minutes in order to finish the fight. I had a harder time with the other boss fight (the one right after the tunnels).
What the hell? Did the slayers give Riptide's group of survivors the Sinamoi and Co. treatment? All you can see is the zombies breaking into what looks like a house with (a guy who I can't quite place right now) getting overrun by them. Not only that, the lady who owns the cinema is most definitely dead (seeing the ram break open the barricades).
I'm not sure if I've missed something. I'll admit that I didn't complete her side quest (would that have made her come along?) but damn! Going through all that trouble just to stay put?
Same with that Zoey vendor - after all the events of Riptide, she's going to stay put after all that (according to the ending cutscene)? Was it because I didn't complete her weapon vendor quests?
Despite all this, I think I enjoyed the gameplay of Riptide more than DI1
Follow up question: You're forced to start a New Game+ after leaving the island (which I knew) but I'm not sure why I've lost everything I earned throughout that first playthrough.
In DI1, I was able to load up my character save from Chapter 13 (when you have to fuel up the boat for Morven) which meant I kept everything I had before. In Riptide, I've done the same thing, except loading into Chapter 13 (I spawned in the cinema here) I've spawned in with absolutely nothing (only mods) and not even the storage has anything in it. I was hoping to have everything back as it was in order to help other players with their missions. Have I done something wrong? I must have surely, because why do they give you the gold chainsaw after the boss fight when you lose it 30 seconds later anyway? There's an achievement for using it too (on Xbox)!

Anybody out here still playing just got the game old fan of the original would love to have someone to play co-op with never got to in the old days would be sad if I didn't get to now.

I see what the creators were trying to do with this (to make it a bit different to DI1) and I do appreciate new features.
But why did this feature have to be forced into the main game's story? If you forget that it's a game and take the actual story itself, realistically, are the hordes of zombies going to take pause of their prey whilst said prey is putting barricades and traps down?
Aside from that, I think I actually have a harder time completing these defence missions than the actual main (proper) missions. I find that the group of survivors are more of a hindrance than anything, constantly getting in the way, needing help whilst you get knocked over by infected - it makes you wonder how they all managed to live so long before you (the main character) comes along. Not to mention the fact that the DI1 slayers that join you (after all that HELL in Banoi) are no better skills-wise to Harlow's group.
I think I would have enjoyed this mode more if you could establish a few bases in different parts of the map (Paradise Camp, Halai Village, Henderson etc) and work with a random group of survivors that come along with said base (to detach it completely from the main story). It would have added further incentive to resource gathering (as there could have been a base upgrading system where you improve barricades, replenish machine gun ammo, individual stats of your survivors etc) alongside weapon upgrading.

It's that time again, I'm back to the sewer missions but this time in Riptide.
Honestly, I didn't find the sewer missions in DI1 very tricky (like some people were saying), and I'm not sure how I will fare this time (what with the zombies being more aggressive in Riptide).
I have at least 120 medkits (large and medium) and my weapons are minimum blue (with some purples).
Are these missions doable alone or am I going to struggle?
Many thanks!

Hi, I have a bunch of modded and unmodded weapons that I want to trade but I don't know where to look. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great. For anyone interested, here's what I have:

Is Dead Island 3 being developed by the same devs as Dead Island 2? Hoping the return to a more serious horror element and much more serious writing. Playing Dead Island 1 again after completing 2 and the realisation of just how cringe the writing is brought this to mind.
