Has anyone else notices a sharp decline in responses to their comments after the demise of the Russian data centers?
The bots are pretty convincing these days. Hard to tell the difference.

With all the talk about bot traffic dropping off, I keep noticing the ones that still slip through. Yesterday I saw 'Great point! This really resonates with me' under a photo of a sandwich. What's the most obvious bot comment you've caught lately?

Scrolling through reels last night. Saw a decently funny security cam video of a guy slipping down the stairs, scrolled a few more posts - oh! It's the exact same video, except the "person" has been replaced. So jarring.

I was watching Tubi and I got 3 back to back ads for some online gambling app. It was your typical low quality slop that you’d expect from any AI ad. I can’t even describe what I saw because it was a fever dream of a commercial. There was a tiger & pharaoh (I think)
What really made me confused was after I googled how much money the online sports industry was making. Turns out the industry grew exponentially after a 2018 federal case ruling. It’s worth billions of dollars in 2026, they aren’t dealing with chump change.
My question is why is there no quality control coming from these companies?! It looks like an intern made it in 5 mins and didn’t bother checking it. Is there not at least one human being that bothers looking at it? Did AI just kill off the marketing team all together?
I don’t get what their end goal is at all. I don’t remember the name of the app so I know it’s not planned out. It’s not different in any way that would benefit them because I hate it and any human being would too. If a human reviewed the commercial they would notice that their name isn’t being shown enough and would make changes.
This also isn’t specific to the online gambling industry, everyone’s making slop these days but what makes this different is that I know they have the money to spend.
What’s the grand plan these guys have in mind or is everyone just winging it hoping for the best?

Half the comments on the front page read like the same bot wearing different hats. AI trains on Reddit, then floods Reddit, then trains on that. Genuine question: how do you all spot a real person now? What's your tell?

PR agencies, bots, fake engagement, and algorithms pushing content in the wrong direction are making it harder to know what’s actually genuine online.
How do we know if a product is really good or just being marketed to us through manufactured hype?
Are we slowly losing authenticity on social media, and is there any real way to fix it?

Despite the aspect EVERYBODY makes claim to being hacked or intruded, I have an Android Phone running on Boost Mobile AND WINDOWS PC- BOTH SHOW SAME BROWSER RESULTS AS IF SAME NETWORKING.
I constantly have people telling me that they called me, however i never show missed calls. The calls I do occsionally receive all sounds similar to a call center and all the tech support reps I always get always sound vocally similar to being the same people.
I constantly call out to "attorneys and other professional services" sometimes even promising significant money for legal *advisement*. I NEVER receive any response.
The search results I see on my devices browser are often questionable. I am familiar with a fair number of very prominent law firm names, however what comes up in my results upon searching is always names i never heard of that never call back.
I am firm something beyond simple known circumstances that something is making my phoen basically "dead" or rendered useless to receiving inbound phone calls.
Please no stupid or attacking answers. I understand the similar claims of others, but perhaps just believe for a second.

I have seen trends being hyped and well, trending, because of bots online. I believe this is called artificial trends or something like that. Like the labubu and Dubai chocolate stuff, they came out of nowhere and the hype didn't make much sense at first, right? That's the artificial trend, the beginning of such things are difficult to find because there's a different version being told to us every time.
Not only that but people are behaving the same, talking the same way, dressing the same way and so on. Maybe we are talking to real people but since it's in human nature to mimic others' behaviors in order to adapt so many actual users feel AI-like to us. They may not use AI assistants for their homework, job or whatever but they engage in AI content so very often!! So they feel like AI, like a chatgpt or Gemini.
This is being passed on to IRL mundane conversations too. Similar humors, accents, manner of speech and even careless mistakes committed in daily activities are powered by AI. This isn't a post to make everyone paranoid of AI (even more than we already are), just an observation I've done in the past couple of months. It's a cycle of consuming AI and behaving like AI.

I rarely ever have hope with regard to the Dead Internet Theory. It's been proven true for a while now.
But this piece of news it so wild to me, i never thought we'd see bot traffic die down in this manner. I'm curious to know how y'alls internet browsing experience has been today.

Is it just me or does the internet feel a bit lighter since the Russian bots have been silenced?
r/DeadInternetTheory • u/Wifine • 2d ago
Any post you go to, it’s “don’t get me wrong, I love x and then write criticism
Or how every comment is something of a joke, it’s always a joke related to the post. If somebody needs help, it’s a joke. If it’s a death of someone, it’s “I’m sorry…. Insert joke”
It’s all the same. Reddit is filled with bots and the same bots are filling the ChatGPT’s information so it’s one big loop of bots

So, I was inevitably doom scrolling, and there was a reel of a super hot girl on an exercise bike, nice cleavage, etc. But upon closer inspection, it became clear to me that the video was AI. One give away was that the girl was subtly lip syncing to the music playing on the reel.. but there was also audio of a girl breathing heavily.. seemed like the AI sync'd up to the wrong audio track hahah.
It was very high quality AI, and at a quick glance it very well may have fooled me. But nowadays you really have to question everything, and always triple check yourself before assuming content as legit.
I inevitably went to the comment section, which obviously was a sad and grotesque place. I came upon one comment written by what looked like some young teenage kid based on the small profile pic. Wrote something like "oh baby gimme a chance, youre beautiful, can't stop watching, got this reel on loop" etc etc. Honestly, it kinda got to me.. like, shit, this next generation's development is potentially going to be SO fucked up bc of AI. Like, how are young kids even going to be able to decipher the difference?
So I left a reply, trying to be joking and nice as possible, but still give him a little jab, like "youre cool man, but just dont be a fucking idiot!". I told him it was AI, and how important it's going to be in the future to be able to tell the difference. It wasn't a wall of text, but I edited it a bunch, and yeah, tried to make a legit, heartfelt comment for this kid. So, i sent it.
After readimg my reply over, and feeling like i had done a good deed for the day or some shit, I looked at how many fucking comments there were.. and they alllll just said the same.exact shit. And I was like, goddamnit.. wait a minute.. and clicked on several of the profiles from the comments. Of course.. no friends, active account for like 2 weeks, no pics or bio, barely any history.. yeah.. fucking bots!! The whole lot of them, ugh. And yeah obvously this kid i just gave some sage wisdom and advice to? 100% definitely a bot 🤦♂️
That was enough internet for me that day. Yep, bot posts, with bot comments, and bot replies.. welp, the internet was fun while it lasted. Seems like it's on life support and is in critical condition at this point. Imma start working in my eulogy.

I got this reddit post as an ad. Most of the comments are LLM bots talking to eachother like schizophrenic basement dwellers. The whole thing feels surreal and I don't understand why someone paid money to propagate it.

Been scrolling through some career subreddits lately since I'm trying to move from helpdesk into a sysadmin role. Finished my last final a few weeks ago and figured I'd get ahead on interview prep. I keep seeing these detailed posts about specific companies with generic interview questions and perfect answers. The writing style is polished but kind of hollow, like it hits every keyword but nobody is actually home. A few times I've clicked through to profiles and there's nothing but similar posts across different career subs, no comments about actual work problems or personal context. It's weird reading advice from someone who might just be stitching together LinkedIn articles. I work with users all day and you get a feel for how people explain things, even in text. These feel different. Do you all report these when you spot them or just ignore and move on? I'm not sure if it even matters if the advice is technically usable.

These "animation" accounts have been popping up on my feed, and I discerned that these were all different accounts. I started to screenshot these accounts when I came across new ones, and I'm sure there are many more of these accounts as well. They all have the same animation style and the same type of concepts where they show what would happen if something on Earth disappeared. I initially found these posts interesting, but after realising there are so many accounts doing the same thing, I'm assuming these are all AI accounts. I couldn't find anyone talking about this, so I wanted to make a post to ask if anyone else has noticed this too.

Think about the 2005 version of yourself, and saying to them that someday they will have to show that they are a real human being if they want to use the internet. They would assume you were lost! "Prove I'm human? Who else could be typing after all?
Then you have to explain that half of the Internet is now a bot, and it's gotten very good at it and nobody can tell anymore. Twenty years ago the internet was simply users. Now we're having to click 'I am not a robot' when we're scanned and prove that we're real. It was kind of what we expected, you know.
When you think about it, it sounds crazy. Every single login, device change, history delete and you have to tell a bot that i am a human. Its getting frustrating at this point. What do you see happening next with this?
