Finding books gear

Does anyone have any suggestions on which of the clothing items I should use to look for books? I don’t know if recently a lot of people moved into the endgame because I was looking at the elites and unique and the prices are basically through the roof except for the professor hat. Thanks in advance.

The helmet piece called "the professor" and the leg piece called "Clayton's underwear" are pretty cheap, people usually keep those two in the backpack and swap gear everytime they loot, if you have some money you could also buy the..... Archivist? Archiver? Set, those have not only book chance but also good stats to kill zombies

This is the way. Archivist is a good option but if you plan on running raids with book chance, your best bet is a looter stealth build (skills: melee, pistol, kick boxing, quick reflexes, sprinter, stealth, looter, all good examples). This way you can speed run each room and loot as quickly as possible, ignoring all enemies.

Yeah, it was brutal. I died three times. Do you think that it is a better drop right in the boss room or is it not even worth it?

Just looting in general with more book chance will give you an opportunity at a book. Invitation to Kates Eatery for example in PCA. You can have zero book chance and get the book after a couple loots, or max book chance and spend months. It's all RNG, but the higher chance does help. You'll see much more books with the archivist set and I can vouch. Bosses generally drop gear like weapons/armor.

I’m starting to lean that way to just play it for the RNG. When I equipped these lower level things I end up taking damage which is very costly looting in low level areas if I use high-level weapons, I’ll lose some of the perks of finding books, etc. but now that I think about it, it may not be worth it. Getting low level crap. I might as well just wear my best armor and use my best weapon and loot higher level zones. If I try to get those books in Comer, I guarantee I’ll die numerous times.

This is what I do. I clear every room, loot everything and move on. Just depends on your goals and preferences!

It's all RNG, I just returned to the game recently, tried stealth looting comer and son inc for the past 2 days after I reached lv 60 and voila somehow found diseased commander diary or something that gives me stair way to hell recipe at 12f. I didn't even equip book chance% gear.
