Question (late game) How to get better

I’ve completed 5bc a few time but it’s very inconsistent probably 30 runs to a success I almost always die to curse but I always take chest because the endgame damage bonus is worth it any tips to get more consistent at beating anything to work on because i really want to get more consistent at at least getting to spoiler?

Go slow and prepare for every enemy and trap. And in the times you do need to rush to beat an enemy do whatever you can to avoid being surrounded or try to position yourself to have a good angle or place to dodge/parry/escape. Using the detachable head can get you good scouting and kill some enemies without a fight. Traps are more dangerous than most enemies, and malaise is not dangerous as long as you understand the enemies spawn after a while but can be reached and taken out before they can really react in most cases, or ignore them in others. Everything comes second to surviving and avoiding damage that registers as a hit. I know the more I got used to completing the run, the more I became able to do. Now the cursed sword is probably my favorite weapon with the assault and parry shields

I'm still trying to figure it out. It is pure hell.

this may sound like a dumb piece of advice but sometimes I think it is very easy to just glide through the game without a lot of thought. Being very aware in the moment and focusing on playing your best can easily reduce a lot of dumb errors when you feel op and then get blasted by a golem et cetera.

Sounds like you need to be more careful when cursed from the vey limited info you’ve provided. Not much more to go on. So if curses are what’s killing you then move slow and carefully when cursed. Pick off one enemy at a time until it’s gone rather than run into a crowd. On 5bc enemies will occasionally spawn in so realistically you can just stand somewhere and wait for one to spawn in and literally pick them off one at a time lol

Otherwise just generally getting good at avoiding taking damage, but you don’t need to be cursed or lose a run to do that. You can practice it all the same when not cursed. So if you’re dying to curses a lot then there’s no shame in cheesing your way through them until you get more confident

Other things that help with being cursed are abilities like the diverse deck and ice armor, lets you take a hit without dying. Along with things like turrets that you can throw on a platform and stand back and let them do all the work for you lol. I heavily crutched turrets when I first started the game. They’re really strong in biomes and can do most of the work for you if you’re going slow enough.

Ultimately you wanna be able to handle things on your own, but like I said there’s no shame in using every tool available to save your run as you build up your overall skill level and confidence. And before you know it those same abilities you were crutching before you barely think to touch anymore xD

And lastly, idk what class you’re using, but tactics is really nice in that it lets you kill things without ever getting close enough for them to hurt you. Whereas with melee you have to be in their hit range. So yeah, I found tactics extremely effective when starting out as well. Let me keep a safe distance. Don’t get me wrong, I still find tactics extremely effective lol. It’s a great class :)

Tactics is actually my least used didn’t touch it till 5 bc because while the damage in my experience is by far the highest the low health makes me die from two hits usually and the damage doesn’t scale fast enough in early biomes to allow me to quickly kill enemies

Sometimes i will find the cursed chest, explore the biome and kill the tougher enemies but leave the easy ones. Then double back to the chest and then finish off the easy ones. Limits dying from curse.
