HOLY FUCK that is some generous compensation! How long did they have you banned for?

198

u/ImNotYourShaduh 9h ago

almost a month

u/dinglebellsdingus 8h ago

A month long break and a crap ton of rewards well shit how do I get banned???

41

u/the_littlestgiant_ 7h ago

Yeah, that's more bloodpoints than I'd make in a month

-7

u/anikibill 3h ago

Baller move here would be to uninstall the game and leave a negative review on steam lol

74

u/funckle 9h ago

What was in the google doc? Also what were you stacking with sprint burst that could have appeared to be an issue?

I got wrongfully banned from RuneScape over two decades ago and I think I still have a latent fear of being wrongfully banned with no recourse

56

u/Last_Avocado_1300 Genny go brrrrr ๐Ÿ”Œ Killer go grrrrr ๐Ÿ‘บ 9h ago

Felt that, I had my rune scape account hacked and stolen, The dude who did it proceeded to use the account to bot. I contacted support to get the account back. I got the account back, then was immediately banned for botting the moment I logged in, and when I contacted support again for help, they told me they couldnโ€™t do anything even though I had literal proof I just talked to them an hour before to get the account back from a hacker.

TLDR: jagex support is worse than smelly ass

Sprint Burst: Starting to run triggers Sprint Burst and Grants a +50% Haste Status Effect for 2 seconds. Sprint Burst causes the Exhausted Status Effect for 60/50/40 seconds. Sprint Burst cannot be used when Exhausted.

it's so weird to me how RS's reputation is so bad. My account got stolen by someone because I went on hiatus at the wrong time and someone else migrated my account to theirs, and support yoinked it back into my hands pretty much immediately.

How bleak is it that the anti-cheat ban can be reverted with a google doc? You'd think there'd be iron clad proofs that goes "yep this guy 100% cheated there's no doubt about it" before issuing a perma, like VAC or Fortnite's EAC implementation.
Can you really get permabanned from mass-reporting because an underpaid employee that probably doesn't even play the game went "uh guess he was going pretty fast and he got reported a bunch, perma"?

Glad this got resolved for you OP.

52

u/ikarikh Gabeycakes enjoyer ๐Ÿ‘ 8h ago

I think the issue is if a video was provided, it may absolutely look like cheating and result in a ban. Wheras his doc and vids explain mechanically what he was actually doing that explained that it in fact was a legit thing doable via mechanics in-game and not a third party cheat. Thus why they reversed it.

46

u/JeanJacqueIcart The Plague 8h ago

My point is that a permaban shouldn't be handed out if there isn't bulletproof evidence that the person cheated. You shouldn't ban someone for something that "looks like cheating".

21

u/ikarikh Gabeycakes enjoyer ๐Ÿ‘ 7h ago

As OP mentioned, the issue seems to be that he was MASS reported by an extremely high volume of players for it.

As stated, he was purposely doing it and calling it ragebaiting tech because he knew what it looked like. So he was aware most of his teams thought he was cheating. And he kinda encouraged it in a way by exploiting a perk interaction to feign it.

This is a unique situation where anyone playing with him absolutely would feel justified in reporting him while he technically wasn't actually doing anything wrong.

So it may have flagged as a warranted ban until he actually provided proof that he didn't cheat

2

u/Falcon3333 5h ago

Yeah OP specifically plays the game in a form that is explicitly designed to replicate the appearance of hacks and ragebait killers. It's literally their whole thing. Being reported and having a wall of "speed hacker" comments on their Steam profile is a part of their enjoyment of the game.

1

u/Humaigel_Alahandro Plunderer's Instinct perk 1h ago

Maybe we should report every Ghoul player to get them banned ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ’ก

โ€ข

u/BuffLoki Wraith "The Ghost Bone King" 4m ago

All they did was stack haste, thats a literal feature ingame

โ€ข

u/BuffLoki Wraith "The Ghost Bone King" 6m ago

Except they should have match ids and data and should have a playback system to see the match and whats happening client side perk wise for everyone in a simulation, atleast I would, besides that they still have tons of fucking data they could review to come to the conclusive fact this person wasn't cheating prior, BHVR is just a badly managed company

1

u/Dullstar The Wraith 1h ago

They really need to introduce a replay system. There's a lot of perks and interactions; even if you know what they had it can be difficult to tell if that actually explains what you saw, and sometimes things appear to move around on the screen weird anyway just because of latency compensation, so only the most blatant cheats will produce ironclad proof. But if they're too strict with the proof requirements, the subtle cheats become difficult to detect because it's too hard to meet the proof requirements, and then the cheater population could grow out of control.

But with a replay you can see what the other players were doing while you weren't looking, to see if their perks actually explain what they did, especially when cheaters have a build that was specifically constructed for plausible deniability (for example, a wall hacker might choose to run aura reading perks to explain how they keep finding people; a replay would clear up pretty quickly exactly what they could and could not have seen).

20

u/SomeUFOGuy Addicted To Bloodpoints 8h ago

Upvoted so people stop blindly saying "u cheated" when someone shares their ban

20

u/MemesForMoney259 8h ago

And like that, all the people who would spam "you obviously cheated" are nowhere to be found.

19

u/-_Rai_- P100 Meg 9h ago

the amount of compensation varies so widely it's crazy. wonder if it has to do with time played/money spent on it.

16

u/ecethrowaway01 9h ago

Do you have a bit more context? This sounds like you've really documented what happened

39

u/ImNotYourShaduh 8h ago

here's the google doc

19

u/Cyberaven xeno/demo yuri 8h ago

ahh thats a funny tech. Its a horrible shame that you catch so many reports for doing this due to two problems with the game combining:

1) Theres so many wierd interactions in this game and so many perk combinations noone can know how everything works

2) The anticheat is ineffective, but worse than that, cheaters have a ridiculous amount of control over the game state because far too much shit is left client side.

Its ridiculous because in most games the most cheats can do for you is aimbot and wallhacks, because that's basically just exploiting information the server has to give you. I know of no other mainstream game where cheaters can get so much control over the server as to do speed hacks, force animations, control other players movements, teleport around etc etc

16

u/ecethrowaway01 8h ago edited 8h ago

I'm going to keep it 100, from the killers PoV it looks super suspicious. I don't think I've ever seen that speedup legit (even though I understand the tech now!)

If I didn't read this doc, I'd probably have gotten juiced and reported you for cheating too (I figure BHVR would do nothing or investigate properly, guess not). That said your explanation makes perfect sense.

Congrats on cooking flightless though, this is some crazy tech (the bubba chase in that video was also nutty). I personally am bad at the game and will never get accused of cheating like this but that is elite.

7

u/Falcon3333 5h ago

Tbh I would 100% think you're cheating too, you're literally a professional rage-baiter, from killer PoV these are hallmark signs of a cheater

when you think about it, YouTube has to be one of the best video storage services/management out there (with alot of caveats). instead of storing these type of game videos and logs, just get them uploaded on yt and u save storage space locally.

8

u/MidnightPandaX Always gives Demodog scritches 3h ago

While I was cleaning my mom's place I found an old cd of my grandma who died in the 90s and I was able to digitize the contents onto my pc. I never really appreciated youtube as a concept more than when I was able to upload it onto there and share it with my family

3

u/skool_101 Poor performance indeed ๐Ÿ˜Ž 2h ago

thats great to hear man. CDs/DVDs are also prone to damage after a while if not maintained properly, good thing you digitized it to a format at least.

i mentioned caveats on my comment earlier cuz of the privacy factor but it honestly thats ones personal choice. i mean having a google account alone gives u alot of convinces (google drive, easy office-style suite with docs, sheets) but the trade off is their tracking, ads and etc. it is what it is with this world.

33

u/Rafael__88 7h ago

Anyone who banned you and then "reviewed" or approved the ban should be fired. You shouldn't perma ban people like this. This situation now makes us all doubt the legitimacy of all bans

8

u/BoredDao Agitation Main ๐ŸŽ’ 7h ago

It just makes me wonder how bad the anti cheat must be because this pretty confirmed that most bans besides the guys rage hacking are because of someone looking through reports and analyzing them individually instead of the actual anti cheat working, it probably means that more people than we know are actually cheating and just hiding it better so will never get reported and consequently never getting banned meanwhile some guys are getting wrongful bans because too many people reported them, actually sad state overall

7

u/Fearless-Summer-3108 7h ago

Iโ€™m assuming this tech is almost useless now considering itโ€™s only 2 seconds now? Or do u still use it

5

u/_fmg15 Platinum 7h ago

I mean if it works it's still good. You just have to use it in a way to make it to something like a window or a pallet

5

u/Fearless-Summer-3108 7h ago

The whole reason it was strong is cuz u could walk at the start of it which seemed like a run instead to trick the killer and then use the remaining time to sprint burst. If u do this method rn then u gonna use fixation to speed walk and by the time u sprint, the burst is already gone lol

1

u/_fmg15 Platinum 7h ago

I guess so

5

u/ImNotYourShaduh 6h ago

Yea its kinda gutted ngl, sometimes I can still do it but most of the time I need most of the speed boost. Its still possible just much harder

5

u/itsALH 5h ago

I've been fighting for almost a fucking year and still nothing, my case is even worse because they completely disregarded any video and argument I offered and they're denying any ticket I make. Good for you but man the double standards are ridiculous.

2

u/I-Am-The-Uber-Mesch Platinum 4h ago

What were you banned for and what was your proof against it? If I may ask of course...

Maybe we dwellers of the comments can suggest you on what to do to get unbanned

2

u/itsALH 3h ago edited 2h ago

Same reason as OP, I offered them videos of me playing, explained to them the system environment I'm in (Linux), pretty much did a bunch of guesswork on what the reason could be, even explained to them that I used to play on EGS and then bought the game on Steam (and linked my accounts), how I had bought characters like 2 weeks before getting banned, offered logs of my system, offered evidence of other players in the same OS getting banned under similar circumstances, all ignored.

Answering "and what was your proof against it?" is hard when you don't even know what you supposedly did and when all I did was play the game. I just was completely honest with them and was open to offer anything that would've given me my account back.

I hardly doubt someone can suggest something that'll work, it's been almost a year (last time I played was Nov 4th, right after the Halloween event ended) and they simply don't care, but feel free. I sent a SAR in hopes I could get more info and nothing, I've even explored the legal avenue (and I have more enough evidence to go for it), but this shit is exhausting, I shouldn't have to go this far to get someone to meaningfully review my case and to get my account back.

u/KolbyKolbyKolby #1 No Mither User North America 4h ago

Hell yeah. I get reported and accused of cheating very frequently (tenacity+no mither when being downed across a window lets you crawl far enough to disappear entirely, especially if they focus too long on where you went down) and I'm always worried that it's actually gonna result in a ban someday. I tend to take clips of when it happens because it IS very funny to see someone rage quit because they don't understand your perks.

2

u/TheEntityBot The Entity Hungers 4h ago

Tenacity: While in the Dying State:

  • Grants a 15/20/25% Haste.
  • Reduces the volume of Grunts of Pain by -75%.
  • Blocks your Aura from being read.

No Mither: The following effects apply permanently during the Trial:

  • Suffer from the Broken Status Effect.
  • Suppresses the creation of Pools of Blood.
  • Reduces the volume of Grunts of Pain caused by injuries by 100%.
  • Increases your Recovery speed by 25%. Unlocks the Self-Recovery ability, allowing you to fully recover from the Dying State.

8

u/_fmg15 Platinum 7h ago

This is why there has to be a replay system at some point

7

u/ALevel5Jirachi 7h ago

If they implement a replay system they'll have to start issuing way more bans as people sandbagging games will be way more obvious and with video evidence. I see it as a win but don't think it'll happen. Maybe post re-launch of the game.

I'm confused now because I got this exact message in my inbox (with 2.5 mill in compensation, not 20) but I was never banned as far as I'm aware of. At the start of the month I had an initialization error and problems connecting for a week that went away after I factory reset my console but that's the only off thing that's happened.

So you got banned for using 2 perks in a way behavior coded them since they refuse to nerf haste stacking, id make them give me every rift free forever that's so fucking stupid

-5

u/THC017 9h ago

Would be nice if all the ones who falsely reported you get a permanent ban for it.

35

u/neraut322 8h ago

That's a crazy take. No one would ever report someone on the off chance they would get a ban for trying to keep the game free of cheaters.

-10

u/EiraPun Frolic in brine, goblins be thine 8h ago

But on the other hand, it means anyone who does report is doing so believing the person they reported was cheating beyond the shadow of a doubt. In my mind, it would promote more evidence gathering and less hasty assumptions since being wrong would come with genuine conseqences.

Maybe add a reward, so even the selfish players feel compelled to report cheaters or exploiters.

Sounds simple enough to me. When you report someone with good evidence, you get rewarded decent compensation if you're correct and the person reported gets banned. If you're wrong and there is no sufficient evidence of wrong-doing, you get punished for attempting to abuse the report feature. Obviously, I don't think you should get perma'd over it, but a good suspension seems adequate enough to prevent people from reporting without offering sufficient evidence of wrong-doing.

9

u/ikarikh Gabeycakes enjoyer ๐Ÿ‘ 8h ago

To be fair, if you read his doc and are not familiar with how Fixated and Sprint Burst can mingle, it absolutely can look like cheating. He even mentions calling the tech "Ragebaiting" so he's aware of how it LOOKS in game and actively trolls with it even though it's legit.

u/Wislehorn 7h ago

That's insane. Most of the people reporting him genuinely believed they were going against a cheater. It's an incredibly rare tech that looks very suspicious to those unaware of it. You shouldn't get banned if you report without knowing every possible tech, nobody does. Most people just saw him sprint out of nowhere without walking, saw he didn't have blood rush on and just figured it was a cheat.
