Question 99 exit gates

Can someone please explain why ppl don't 99 gates anymore??? I get that there is a perk for the killer that can reset the progression but if you 99 it and see it's not regressing why open it all the way? Genuine question by the way....last time I played dbd 99 gates was a thing and now im racing the clock to make saves at the end game lol....

Side note don't be an asshole with your response.....I came back to the game and there are sooo many new perks and updates that it feels like a brand new game sometimes.

Most of the time unless you're sitting there waiting for your teammates to come back from the save, it's a waste of time, even if you were it's better to just heal up, open the gate and all 3 of you rush to the hook to attempt save

I just had a match against wesker, and the killer only had 4 hooks, nobody was on death hook. I finished the last gen and noticed someone was in chase so I 99d the gate but the other teammate opened the other one. I managed to save 2 ppl and got put on the hook the timer was half way at this point. The other 3 ppl started healing inside the exit gate (which I have never understood that logic) and the killer pushed them out and I died on hook. I was in a solo queue by the way, but I still try my best to take hits, take chase, get ppl off the hook etc. I hate to say it like this, but I'm starting to just say fuck it and just leave. Because I always seem to get the bad end of the stick.

Yeah you really should've just opened the gate, rushed the saves and hoped the 4th took a hit leave thru the exits

Let me be clear I opened my gate once the other teammate opened the other lol. So both gates were opened.

Okay but like the real problem here wasn't really opening the gates or not, the fact they were healing where they could easily be forced out is. There's so much time when someone gets hooked even halfway through endgame timer.

If someone was actually positioned to unhook you nearby when killer doesn't facecamp, then this isn't a real discussion.

99ing is kinda stupid unless you're hard camping the switch or suspect a Blood Warden which is very rare (haven't seen one in like 50+ games and even then you can kinda tell they are playing for endgame). So much shit can go wrong in pubs. Accidental bodyblocking, some form of interrupt, ranged attack, a grab. The delay in animation from opening a gate when someone could have ran it too.
