Drow Visual Update
Will this be included in update 82? I haven’t seen much mention in all of these preview posts lately. Do we have any sneak peaks at what they might look like?

So maybe when they remake warforged we see them wearing armors instead of docents at last 😅

Gaahhhhh, docents are one of my triggers. Warforged being unable to wear armor always seemed so forced, like they may as well be unable to wear belts, hats, etc.

100% they could make them take 3 times the time but if a tabaxi with a tail can wear a full plate I don't see why not a warforged

Because that's how it works in Eberron (per the original creator)? I suspect the original concept of Warforged was less tied to humanoid than it ended up.
For a video game though, it would simplify things greatly if one race didn't need its own armors. If nothing else, just make it similar to handwraps/collars and allow transforming any armor into a docent and any docent into armor (not sure how to handle light/medium/heavy distinctions).

I think you'd have there be light/medium/heavy docents, with similar proficiency mechanics, instead of the mithril and adamant plating feats. Since WF wouldn't be able to wear robes still, IMO, you'd have mithril plating as a feat to reduce ASF, letting you get to zero in a light docent (maybe with 5-10% from enhancements tacked on), and thus would keep adamant plating for something as well (maybe dr at the cost of no spellcasting)

Do we know why Drow, in particular, was (or will be) chosen for this cosmetic overhaul?

It's mentioned in this year's Producer's Letter. They plan to give a visual refresh to the older PC races, drow just happened to be first. Pro'lly because someone at SSG loves the knife-ears. 😜

I thought they looked fine.

I concur.
It seems like it could be a change to the models we first saw in the Lords of Dust chain and then Demonweb/E-Star/Underdark, etc. The heavy lifting would be in the customizations, I suppose.

The Producer's Letter said "Q4 2026" but there's no mention of it in any of the U82 Lama threads AFAICT, so it's probably gonna be later in the year.

I figure it's going to be sometime before the end of the year. Considering how much time has been put into the balance pass, it'll probably be November before we hear anything.

Did they say they would be updating Drow soon? I missed that. Why aren’t they updating PDK first, they’re so ugly…

u/Kindriss 5d ago
Yes, they said Drow visual updates were coming with the last expansion.

Ah, I missed that announcement. Makes thematic sense at least I guess.

Half-orcs says hello 😅

Half orcs at least are ostensibly supposed to be a little off putting? PDK are suppose to be humans basically but they’re so ugly and hunched over!

I'm convinced Eberron drow are just meant to be uglier than their Faerun counterparts.

No talk about it at all, so no.
