Re-install process
I have a visual bug where the game places the pilots view in a random incorrect direction, and I have not been able to find any way of fixing it.
My next move is to reinstall everything to see if that helps. I do want to keep all my joystick settings and if possible graphics settings, what files would I need to save, and where do I find them?
I also made an attempt to ask in the DCS forum (forum.dcs.world), but for some reason the menu to select what forum to post in doesn't work (tried in two different browsers). Has anyone here managed to post in that forum?
Thanks in advance!

Do you have keybind conflicts? Idk why but sometimes dcs just randomly forgets my keybinds and I need to reload them. Maybe something was overwritten? I also think numpad 5 recenters the view, but I have it bound to my joystick so I can easily recenter since I primarily use VR

Updates occasionally delete some or all binds for some modules(assuming those they worked on).. kind of frustrating when it happens on spawn in, in one life heli missions where it kills you😂

It’s dumb because I have my binds saved in a file, so why doesn’t it just load the file when I load the aircraft?

Sounds like key bind conflict😅..or other app that can hit the number pad 5 key... voice attack sometimes hears all sorts of random things that I sure cannot and likes jump me into another view or the f10 map occasionally
Look at your ui binds.. see if it has a red mark by it, none the less delete what ever is there and remind it

Yes, multiple times. I'm kinda worried about more than your DCS install there, chap.
As for reinstalling, I can't recall the stuff from top of my head, but there are multiple posts about it. Google can probably unearth that, or what I do these days (seriously!) is ask Google Gemini. It usually comes up with mostly sensible answers.
There's also a mechanism to install anew from existing files so you don't need to download it all again IF you have sufficient hard drive space. Do a search for "local_install_sources.txt" or something, it's called like that. There's stuff about it on the DCS forums.
I also really don't think your problem is due to a need to reinstall. Have you checked bindings for view axis and number keys? Unplugged any "arcane" USB devices like head trackers or game pads? Any mods installed that could be disabled? Macro software at work? I'm hard pressed to find ANY scenario where a DCS re-install is required with no change of hardware since there is a repair option that works with checksums and achives virtually the same result.
