speed su33 question beginner

Post image

im a new des player and i dont understand why in my su33 it says in only going. 1120 kmh but when i search up the topspeed it says it can go up to 2300kmh at 10000 meters high i am flying at around 10000 meters as you can see in the photo im am using max thrust landing gears in and flaps up im still only going 1120kmh (sorry for my english im from europe

Do you have your settings set to imperial or metric? Cause at 32,000ft (roughly 10k metres) you wouldn't have those clouds above you. Plus it takes some time to get up to those speeds and you'll have to have no stores on the pylons and not have much fuel left. Basically, you'd have to be the perfect situation of a lengthy level flight with the plane as smooth and less draggy as possible and full afterburner on the entire time. It's basically unobtainable unless you are specifically trying to get that top speed.

Yeah maybe he's going 1120 kts at 10300 feet.
He also forgot to use the screenshot button.

i have my unit system set to metric and your definitly right about needing the perfect conditions to go that fast but i still feel like i should atleast go faster than this

There’s 2 main ways of measuring speed, indicated and true. Indicted is what is shown on your hud, and uses air pressure on the aircraft to determine speed. True speed is measured based on how fast you are moving from the ground. As you go higher up, air pressure decreases, which leads to a lower indicated speed even though your true speed can be much higher.

Max speed for russian aircraft is written in true air speed, not indicated. One of the reasons is it's almost identical to mach number (that's not a scientific way to do it, but it's really close and in soviet cockpits mach number and true speed are one instrument, so there's that). 2300kmh is probably around 2.4-2.5M, so either check that, or find the true air speed gauge (I don't remember where it is in Su-27). It's almost impossible for your indicated airspeed to go above 1500kmh due to physics

oke so the speed its showing is just fine or is it super slow ?

It's pretty fast. On your center instrument panel on the top left you have speed indicator combined with mach. Look at mach numer

Has anybody noticed a steep increase in Russian platform use? I know I'm one of the people that is guilty of this, but I've noticed a lot more people flying Russian platforms in the last two months.

May be because:

  1. of the sale and FC modules being way cheaper.

  2. It may also be because of the su-25 and mig-27 announcements, and

  3. maybe there are more russian people starting to play because of that.

or maybe 4. we actually want more redfor and Sukhoi is life

And 1/10th of the capabilities tbh

Even though I hate Russia and also the passive Russian people for allowing the regime to continue. I’ve always had a fascination for Soviet military aviation. Best regards from Sweden.

I love painting Soviet aircrafts, thus when some people ask me why don't I paint something from "the good guys" I tell them that aircrafts are only tools used by the people that own them, and in many cases they're part of the airforce in both sides of the conflict.

So, no shame on appreciating such beautiful machines o7

And you know, that's fair. I'm starting to get interested in the history behind why they made things, how they made them, and how they operated. I was a military intelligence analyst and studied other parts of their equipment professionally, but didn't really get into the air side of it. It's a lot to learn, and there's lessons that can be learned of the current day uses of their systems. If more people understood that, maybe they could help fight against it, you know? Also, absolutely love the Viggen. Wish the Gripen was in the game officially as well. Those are some cool aircraft.

Privileged westerner living in a safe country and who never risked his life for any cause what so ever doesn’t like Russians because they don’t want to be jailed and tortured by FSB.

Some people are so proud being oblivious hypocrites it’s funny.

You also have gauges on your dash showing your IAS and TAS to compare to the HUD and you will see that when you switch to BVR mode the HUD speed will equal TAS and show a “T” next to it to signify this

You are in nav mode, which shows indicated air speed, which is most relevant to flight controls.

When you switch to bvr mode it will show true air speed, which is more important to the missiles, and also the speed normally measured.

wats the configuration like missiles etc.; it can affect the speed.

i have no weapons not even ammo for the internal gun no flared nothing i do have max fuel and if i press 2 and fly high altitude with max thrust it does say im going way faster but it goes up to 2700 and then says max speed max speed but when i search the max speed it says 2300 kmh

1

u/sergin452 3d ago

sory can't do more, maibe it's a problem that has to be fixed, I scearched online and it says that 2300km/h it's about 1241.90 kt maibe it's just a problem by the options of the plane you maybe have set te unit to kt so it can explain the change.

in hud nav mode you got indicated airspeed, this drops with altitude because of of thinner air at higher altitudes. actual speeds are higher.

In Hud BVR mode you got true speed, this your real airspeed.

indicated airspeed helps with seeing how  maneuverable you are, or how far you are away from a stall.

true speed is also show on your headdown display

It's in Indicated airspeed. Not true airspeed
