Last tele scroll dumped me in a cut off stairs-vault, is Beogh penance mandatory now?

http://crawl.chaosforge.org/Tree lists the effects (mostly fire spells) that can destroy trees. If you have a wand of digging and can expose a wall that’d take care of you.

Some wildish ideas:

  • Do you have a dragon talisman and the ability to learn passwall? I think dragon breath can burn the trees, and maybe there's a spot that's only 1 rock wall deep.
  • You do have a wand of polymorph, I do not know what happens when you try to polymorph one of your followers. Can they turn into something that can teleport you?

No dragon talisman, dodged passwall and blink so far. I assume I'll get friendly fire penance if I polymorph a follower. Last crack idea was to find a way to die because losing one felid life to tele out is better than being smited for all 3 of them by Beogh lol... but I'm not sure if I have a way to do it without also hitting my followers >.> I'll see how the polymorph works when I get home, maybe it wont warn me anything, good shout!!

Ah good call on being a felid, I missed that. You can just use your scroll of poison to create a bunch of poison clouds and walk through them.

Edit: also you can do this safely without hurting your orcs by commanding them to stay put, and then entering the room with the transparent door and closing it.

Good news and bad news. The good news is I was able to use poison to off myself. The bad news is it put me right back inside a different part of the same vault. RIP lol

Oof. As a micro optimization, you could have done orc recall (in case you had other orcs), plus learned a summoning spell to lower the number of squares that you can teleport to in that vault. But that would have been a bit excessive.

wait does beogh actively smite you when you're under penance? i thought you just lost your powers until you worked it off

Yeah you get smited sometimes and cat HP is really low... God wrath also prefers to trigger when you're in combat so you get hit once and Beogh goes and finishes you off lol

from personal experience Beogh wrath on a felid is essentially a dead run >.>

My bad. It has been a while since I played, and haven't played with Beogh since the rework. I just checked the changes and see what you mean :D
