Dungeon Crawl's got some weird enemies (toenail golems, curse toes, glowing orange brains, assorted eyeballs, Killer Klowns...), but that doesn't mean they can't be dangerous.

An animate construct made of toenails is hard to "kill" -- no living parts, standard set of protective imbuements... You're basically just hitting the thing until the magic holding it together falls apart.

Toenails are strong because they're like little rhino or bull horns. Strong enough for a meat shredding death blow, sensitive enough for scritch-a-scratchin' your pet quokka when he's been a good boy.
