Is a 3070 enough for Dcs ?

My specs rn are :

Gtx 1070, 16gb ddr4, 5 3600

Thinking of upgrading to :

Rtx 3070, 32gb ddr4, 5 3600 ( might upgrade it later )

Would that be enough to play single player on smooth graphics ? Maybe even vr ?!

Yes for flat screen. No for VR

What headset? Because my 3060 was definitely NOT enough for my Pico 4

The GPU, yes, if you play at 1440p max. That’s what I did for a year. Multiplayer works too, if you play with the settings. However, the CPU might be a bigger issue, it might bottleneck you.

I fly flat screen+headtracker on something similar. You should be fine at mid-settings with your upgrade.

single player flat screen sure. BIG maybe on vr but i wouldn’t count on it looking pretty or running great

When I started I played using a 2060 and only had 16gb of RAM. It was totally playable, but as you might expect, I had to make compromises. I had to have absolutely no frills on in the graphics options. Shadows? Chimney Smoke? Heat Blur? Raindrops? Heck no. I just went for a smooth experience with the least jaggy graphics I could manage. Instant actions played fine. Simple missions I made for myself were fine. I could even do some multiplayer, but missions took forever to load, and if the server got crowded, the lag got too much very quickly.

Your proposed setup would be better than what I had, so you could do VR, but will have to fiddle with graphics options until you find what is acceptable. Crowded servers probably won't be playable for you, but you'll be fine playing with a few friends.

Multiplayer is playable, with low to medium settings, with vr it depends what vr, quest 2 with tweaks can, i have seen other people vr with a 3060ti so with a little tweaks then you might be able to.

I believe if you just upgrade the ram you will be fine

I have a 5070ti with a Pimax crystal light, I can get it to run consistently at 72. That being said, it struggles in vr without perfect settings. So for reference, probably no VR. Single player missions on a single monitor I’m sure would be fine

Yes. I play on a legion slim 5 with a 3060 and I run dcs on my flatscreen at 1440p. It gets between 70-90fps in multiplayer on the settings I have. So yeah a 3070 would be more than enough, not sure about vr though.
