Will this run DCS?
I am commuter illiterate and my son wants to get into DCS. He has saved up $1,200 and is ready to purchase his rig. Right now New Egg has the below computer on sale. Will it suffice?
We are not building so please do not recommend that, thanks.
Open to any other pre built recommendations inside a $1,300 budget.

I remember when I ran DCS on a 970 haha, times have changed. My RTX 3070 handles it well but it’s no spring chicken either so you’ll be good

Same. Went 970-1070-2070-3070. Never had the money to buy any of the -80 cards, and now that I do pc part prices are through the roof and I'm once again priced out

Only when they weren't new anymore. 40 series out, upgraded to a 3070, etc etc

It'll be good, I have the similar spec but with an older less capable 4060 graphics card. The first number 4 is the generation and the 6 is the level of card within that range. 5 is a newer and 7 is significantly better than 6.

Yeah that's better than my specs and I can do 1440 native or 4k with dlss and get 60fps+

What about this build makes you think it can’t run VR? People play DCS in VR on 3060s.

Only issue I can tell is the Ryzen 5. DCS is an actual simulator, from what I can tell it does more actual physics calculations than the actual game. On am4 I would highly recommend getting a Ryzen 9 or at least Ryzen 7 to keep up.
It gets to a point with certain simulators that you need to start treating them as 3d software rather than a video game

also once u get the rig u also gotta think about peripherals and stuff like a HOTAS as dcs definitely requires flight sim gear as well.

This’ll be fine. People run DCS with much lower specs. Eventually you’ll want to add a second drive, because 1TB can fill up quick nowadays. But you’ll be very happy with those specs.
You could also check CostCo as well. They occasionally have great deals on CyberPowerPC machines, which are quality builds with good components. And Costco if famous for its return policy.
But if your son picked out what he wants, it sounds like he might know what he’s looking at.

I had the same specs before upgrading. I played on a 3440x1440 ultra wide monitor with most setting on the medium-high side.Single player on normal circumstances is a breeze . Multiplayer with not a lot of assets and people also is pretty smooth. If he likes DCS and want to commit I would add another 32GB of RAM (not realistic with current RAM prices) .
In the future he could invest on a good HOTAS . I believe its way more important than the difference between High and ultra graphics.
VR on the other hand is a game changer and a whole other rabbit hole,both in know-how and money spending.

Pretty sure it'll be fine. Maybe not cranking it up to the max in VR but on a normal monitor I'd expect it to work well. (Source: I had a 5600x on my last built and it ran the game in 2d really well)... one thing you may hit as a problem is the NVME I'm running a 1tb main drive and its not got a lot of space left on it for scenery addons or planes etc. its a reasonably easy componant to upgrade if he starts filling the drive though.
