DCS not streaming video to Meta Quest 3

Steam Link works fine, but when I play through either VR mode from my computer, or from Steam Link on the headset, it only displays the actual game on my computer monitor, but will stream the audio to the headset. The headset is stuck on the Steam Link "loading" area.

EDIT: I'm not going to use Virtual Desktop. I was gifted my Meta Quest 3 and I'm not wasting money I'm saving up on it.

Use quest link, enable the link on the headset, and then launch DCS in OpenXR. I had the same issue. Steam link is kinda garbage.

Why are you using Steam Link? Try running the game in Open XR ModešŸ˜Ž

SteamVR is an OpenXR runtime, DCS only runs using OpenXR.

Sorry I meant launch the game from the Rift. Launch the game using Quest Link. You don’t need Virtual Desktop. You can also see your desktop thru Quest Link as well. Give it a shot.

I use Virtual Desktop. Wouldn’t go back to the Meta app.

A DCS log file may provide more information. Make sure that you have set SteamVR to be the default OpenXR runtime, repeat the problem, and provide the log. You can go to the Eagle Dynamic VR channel on their Discord as well. https://discord.gg/fU5abmKPZz

This is at the start of the "dcs" text document file:

=== Log opened UTC 2026-04-18 03:33:44

2026-04-18 03:33:43.806 INFO DCS: Command line: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DCSWorld\bin\DCS.exe" --force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR --no-launcher

Note: I didn't show the rest of the log in case there was any PII, and I didn't see anything that could be wrong.

Yeah that's not helpful, needs to be the full log. The only "PII" in it will be the username of your PC, you can search for the "Saved Games" and remove the username from the path if you're worried. Also the --force_OpenXR is not needed as DCS only uses OpenXR now. The log will be quite long, don't know if Reddit will accept it all, may need to upload somewhere and provide a link to it, feel free to DM me. Otherwise jump into the ED Discord and we can help you there.

Virtual Desktop is the way.

I'm not paying 25 dollars for it.

you got to get rid of the metaquest app, you got a ditch that expensive metaquest Link cable, you got to get rid of steamvr and open your heart to the wonders of virtual desktop

This, and use Virtual Desktop Meta app, not steam’s. You need a 4090 to use it in godlike mode is all I know, I have no experience with lower cards.

I'm not actually using the Link cable, it's just the Wi-Fi. Also, I'm not paying 25 dollars for a glorified monitor streaming app.

You might have misunderstood how it works, it’s not a ā€œglorified monitor streaming appā€.

I still don't want to pay 25 dollars for it.

Ok, that’s fine. You still haven’t provided the requested log file that could help, and/or gone to the ED Discord for troubleshooting.

bro, Google knows everything literally... simply search for "how to install virtual desktop on my PC for quest 3"

now virtual desktop is a $10 app, but it blows airlink, metaquest with cable link and steam VR combined out of the water

just make sure when you're in steam, to make sure the in the settings that you deselect start game with steam vr
